Waiting Asylum decision

Hey guys, hope you are well.

Quick question, a friend of mine just went to interview, she said AO asked her questions like " would you go to your country if you have a green card" based on that she says she is really positive about the result.

Does that question mean anything guys, im just curious.

This question has a different meanings. He asked this question for a purpose. If she answered YES then this is really a bad and negative answer and it can have a negative impact on her decision, but if she said NO then it’s good and she safe.

hey guys @seeker512 , i requested an appointment with a supervisor at Boston Asylum office today, My decision has been pending with them for 2 years 2months. this is what they told me :

"The officer who interviewed you already made the decision, your case is on the shelf waiting for the final stage which is Supervisor signature and review. If the supervisor agrees with the AO, we will mail your decision soon after but if they disagree on the AO decision it might take a little bit more because the Supervisor will need to return the case back to the AO pointing out were he does not agree with the decision. We can not give you a date at the moment on when you will get your decision mailed to you."

Guys what does this mean? im tired guys, 2 YEARS!!! WAITING, ok if they dont want why dont they just refer me to court soon after interview instead of making me wait a whole 2 years in pain and stress.

What is the concern? That is the policy which they explained to you. If supervisor agrees with AO you will get your decision, but if he doesn’t agree with AO he will send back and ask AO for a mutual discussion on disagreement.

Hello Everyone,

hope everyone is having a great weekend, I would like to share my asylum journey so far and hopefully get some of your feedback and insights.

-Applied for Asylum June 2017
-Update online next step is in person interview that was in May 2020 yet I did not get a letter on the mail, contacted my asylum office in Houston serval times.
-Submitted so many inquires online nothing happened
-Earlier this year my father had a stroke he lives in a 3rd country (Not the my country of asylum) my passport is expired and there is a civil war going on my country so there was no way for me to renew my passport not by mail or at embassy so there was no way for me to go see him so I emailed and called the Houston office explained the situation to them and sent them all medical reports also explained to them that my passport (from my country) is expired and I can't renew.
-They emailed me on 1/11/2024 that my case was expedited
-1/21/2024 case updated to On January 21, 2024, the next step in your application is an in-person interview. Once your interview is scheduled, you will receive an interview notice.
-Few Days later I received the letter with the Interview scheduled on 2/13/2014

How was the Interview:
2/13/2024 I had my Interview at the Houston Asylum office with a very nice lady, first thing she asked me was (By any chance did you bring your passport) and sure I had all my documents with me.
Interview started around 8am and lasted for 2 hours or less.
She was very nice before we started (even joking) and got serious after we started the interview which I think is very normal.
Again after the interview she was very nice and thanked me for sharing my story and told me that she won't be making a decision today and that I should expect it in the mail she did not specify how long it could take so I asked her to consider the situation with my father she quickly responded that she knows about it and that she has all documents and reports made notes .
she took my passport to make copies and asked me to write down all the countries that I visited before I came to the US with dates and purpose of the visit.
she came back with my passport and all other documents.
Interview Ended.
Few hours later that same day case updated to (I saw the email update first which said You completed your interview. The time it takes USCIS to issue a decision after completion of an interview may vary etc....) but when I got online I noticed that on the same day I had to updates (your interview has been scheduled ....) and (Decision is pending) I don't know if that mean I have another Interview or is that just a glitch and that I'm in waiting for the decision???? here is a screenshot from case status app.
overall I feel positive about the interview I tried to tell her and describe in details everything but I know Asylum cases are difficult to predict so finger crossed.

I almost have the same timeline as you. I got the receipt number of the i589 application in Feb 2017 and just had the interview on 01/08/2014. Now I'm also waiting for the decision, the same status as you: The decision has been pending since Jan 8, 2024. Hope we can get the approval soon.

@Vivienne are you in Houston? Did you expedite? Asking so we can check if its a trend

In New York before, but now I'm in New Orleans. Not expedited, they agreed to add me to the short notice list after I wrote them several letters last year. My mom was sick badly. However, one family who was interviewed on the same day as me got approval after 2 weeks. I know that one guy also got approval after the interview who was just one week before me. They picked the decision up as scheduled, but my pickup was changed to mail. So I‘ve been anxious for a while. It's so hard time for us.

I felt it was good at that time and the translator also told me I did it well. Only 1.5 hours. The officer was very nice. But I'm not sure now. I always think why they can pick up their decision and get approvals, but my decision is pending......
