Waiting Asylum decision

You didn't clarify that either you are waiting for interview or decision. If you are waiting for the interview then there is no solution except wait and if your decision is pending and you already contacted to your senator or congressman then you should sent a request to Ombudsman. If you are waiting for your interview then you should escalate expedite request with solid grounds and reasons along with proper documents either on humanitarian or medical grounds whichever suits you.
Thank you so much for your advice! I will contact Ombudsman.

I had my interview in Chicago office Aug 2022.. inquired in March response was pending background checks.. requested FOIA in April the decision section was blank.. inquired again early June response was case is in the processing queue!

Inquired again yesterday and received below the super quick response!! Anyone received such a response before and what is your advice what else I should do?!!!

“Thank you for your July 5, 2023 inquiry on

behalf of your constituent, xxx, regarding pending Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicate that xxx’s case remains pending at this time. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely and efficient manner while also ensuring public safety, national security, and compliance with all relevant directives. While the processing steps for most applications or petitions are completed quickly, a small percentage of cases involve unresolved issues that may result in adjudication delays. For example, if our review reveals one or more questions that may impact an individual’s eligibility for a particular immigration benefit, further inquiry may be needed. The inquiry may include an additional interview, contact with another agency for updates or more comprehensive information, or some other action.

We are unable to determine at this time when the review process for the application, Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal will be completed. USCIS will issue a decision on xxx’s application once certain issues are resolved. We are striving to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

We understand that xxx may be frustrated by the progress of case. However, USCIS must balance individual inconvenience against broader issues of public safety and national security. Please remember case status may be monitored online at https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do.

We respectfully request you allow at least 90 days from the date of this email before following up on the status of the case.”

If there would be no Flag appear during your background and security check then mark my words, 1000% you will get your approval.

Good day everyone,
I have been following all the stories and discussions in this forum, and I must confess that it has been incredibly helpful. I'm writing to seek your opinion regarding my asylum application process. I had my interview in Houston five months ago, and since then, my application has been marked as 'decision pending.' I have made inquiries twice, and both times I was informed that my case is still being processed and adjudicated. They mentioned that once a decision is finalized, it will be served to me by mail. Additionally, I recently requested a FOIA and found no indication in my application form that my application has been approved or referred. Like I saw some other people application for in this forum.
I am curious to know if this extended processing time is a good sign that my application might be approved or if it suggests something else. I came across a post on this forum mentioning that a lengthy processing time could mean they are conducting a thorough background check before approving the application. I would greatly appreciate hearing your opinions and insights on my case.
Thank you all, and may you continue to be blessed.

I already replied on your case as "my opinion". You didn't read on previous page???? if not then go to previous page and read the reply. Remember, that is only my personal option, or point of view based on my experience and research. That is not a legal advice. If someone else can share his/her opinion, wait and see.

Contact to Senator Dianne Feinstein office and ask for help. This is your laziness that you didn't pursue your case properly. Visit her website and download privacy release form, fill it out and send to her office at this email address casework@feinstein.senate.gov
Make sure mention your complete detail in it. Best of Luck.
Thank you for your helpful reply, I already contacted my congressman twice, but on both occasions I was told to wait for my background check to be completed. Should I still contact the senator?

Now go through your local congressman. If you sent your inquiry about 45 or 60 days ago, then send a new request through congressman instead of senator. Make sure mention all the detail of your previous request and their outcome/response. If your decision is pending for the last 6 months, the definitely this time you will get your decision.

The congressional office cannot expedite the decision if the response is background checks. This is what they’ve been telling me each time I request their help. They been telling me that all what they can do is inquiring about the status and check if the background checks been cleared and this is what they have been doing in regards to my requests as they cannot go any further!!

Usually Background check takes 3 to 4 weeks but sometimes which is very rare takes extra long time. But that is an exceptional case. If your background check process is undergoing more that one month, then you can ask them that its already been ......months have been passed. however, please ask asylum office for latest updates. They should help you.

Could you please guide me how to request FOIA to my entire asylum file including the application form and all submitted documents?

Hi All, I live in CA and my asylum case decision is still pending. My passport is expired as well. How to apply for state Id in CA? I don’t drive so I can’t apply for DL.

Thanks !

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. I am writing to bring to your attention a peculiar situation that I discovered in my asylum application tracking history. I have attached the message for your reference. It seems there is an update indicating a request for a change of address, which I can confirm I never made.
I underwent my asylum interview approximately 6 months ago and have been patiently waiting for a decision ever since. This sudden change in my tracking history has caught me by surprise, as I have had no reason to request an address change.
I am reaching out to seek your assistance in shedding more light on this matter. If anyone has experienced a similar situation or has any insights into why this may have occurred, I would greatly appreciate your input.
Furthermore, I am unsure of the appropriate steps to rectify this issue. If anyone has advice on what I should do to correct the misinformation in my tracking history, please do share your guidance. Your support in this matter means a lot to me.
Thank you all for your attention and understanding. Thanks

This is not the official tracking website of USCIS. If you have a USCIS account then you can check the same issue. But usually until your asylum cases is decided, you cannot track anything. But just take a look and check it in your USCIS account.

Thank you for your response,

I appreciate your input and want to clarify that the website I've been using to check my case status is the official USCIS website, which can be accessed at egov.uscis.gov

Throughout the process, I have consistently used this website to inquire about my case, and it has always been the same platform where I received updates, including the notification of my scheduled interview. Even when I initially submitted my application years ago, it was through this website.

Despite this, I must admit that I am a bit confused by the recent developments in my tracking history, and I have been login in the same website stated above before seeing the tracking history. However, the message about a change of address request has appeared, which I did not initiate or authorize.

I am uncertain if there is any connection between these events or if there might be an error in the system. If anyone has experienced a similar situation or has knowledge about how this could happen, I would greatly appreciate your insights.

Once again, thank you for your response, and I am eager to hear any further information or advice that could help make sense of this situation.

Hi everyone, I had my interview a year ago, my decision is pending since then, and reached out to the congressman and submitted an expedite request due to circumstances I had. However, I received the following reply: An asylum application may require additional time to be adjudicated after an initial asylum interview for several reasons including awaiting background and security check results, and/or requiring a re-interview. Additionally, the need to reassign staff to high-priority workloads, such as protection screenings for detained noncitizens, may also be a reason for delaying the adjudication.

Seems a general response! They haven’t mentioned the exact reason. Any ideas or thoughts? I’m totally lost!

Thanks in advance!
