Waiting Asylum decision

Hey
I did my interview on August 2021 arlington office
Since then the decision is pending I sent hundreds of emails and letters to the asylum office and from 1 month I reach out to the congresswoman and fill the form and told me that will reply within 30 days but nothing also happen since then.

Any advice ?

The status of this service request is:

Your case is continuing processing and adjudication. When a decision is finalized, it will be served to you by mail.

I am going to say something quite unpopular here, without prejudice to each person situation and circumstance, most of us are inadvertently and naively contributing to the delays being experienced, there are too many enquiries and requests that are taking up time of USCIS officers making them unable to process as quickly as they should. The higlighted below is a summary from uscis to Congress!!!
"Many of the backlogged cases are quite old. USCIS says that 27% of pending cases were filed prior to October 1, 2017, meaning that about 180,000 cases were filed more than 5½ years ago (and some of those have been pending much longer than that). Remember that you are not the only one affected by delays, people have been waiting over 6 years for an interview, its very irritating to see people moaning and complaining , let the system work, its not only about you, if the administration goes back to FIFO, you will understand what pain and torture other families are going through. A word is enough for the wise...

Very well said! Can’t agree more!

Hello,
I filled for asylum on June 2016 and I had my interview on March 2023 in Los Angeles office. How long do you think I should wait for the decision? Is there anything else I can do while I’m waiting for the decision?

at least 6 months. Depends upon case to case. Did you expedite the case or without expedite?

Then wait at least one more week and then send an inquiry through congressman to get the decision. You will receive reply about within 4 to 5 weeks. if your receive the reply that your case is under background check, if nothing found negative in your background, it means your application will be approved. Any other reply means, they can refer you to the court.

I did the same and waiting for 1 year and 8 months submit to congressman and didn’t reply more than 1 month

Hello everyone,
I have been waiting the asylum decision for about two months. It's been really hard for me and my family. Struggling with finances, and dealing with depression.
Im trying to keep myself busy preparing my CV, cover letters, and looking for jobs, but I cant apply since I still dont have the EAD, and have NO idea if I will be approved soon. I have to wait until the end of November to send uscis the I-765 form, and as far as I know, it could take about a month for them to approve it. Which means, that maybe i will be able to work until next year. :(
How do you guys do it??
I know is not easy to get a job here. I have a couple of friends who lost their jobs last year because the recession, and they still can't find anything!
So I have been thinking to start applying jobs, but what if they call me for an interview? I cant give them a specific date when Im going to be authorized to work in the US!
any advice?
there's too many problems jumping in my plate now!
Here are a few tips that might help you:
  1. Keep applying for jobs.
  2. Network.
  3. Volunteer.
  4. Stay positive.

Hi, I applied in August 2015 and I had interview on June 2022 in Newark office. The Decision still pending.

Yesterday I went to the SF asylum office in person, and just wanted to share my experience about doing an in-person inquiry.
They told me the same thing as they responded through my congressman inquiry, "the case is still pending" no more information about that (I guess their system only shows that), and then I double checked my mailing address with them, and the counter person told me that they are going to send an email to my responsible officer and will see if they get any responses.

If you are waiting for the decision since 2020, the is your carelessness. And for Bella, you have to wait at least 4 to 6 months. If don't receive decision within 6 months, then contact your area's congressman for liaison. He will send the enquiry on your behalf and you will get the decision.
