I read somewhere in the forum that this number is only for FBI fingerprtint check. 99.99% people get FP cleared within 24-48 hours and that is why we all have a LUD after FP. This number is not about "Name check". Remember that FBI check consists of at least two elements - FP and name check. Name check is the bottle neck and black hole. You can't get the status on it from FBI. Only USCIS can tell you about it and they can only tell you it has been cleared or not -- they don't give any more detail on name check.

Please correct me if I am wrong. All my information is based on earlier postings on this forum that I have been reading for months.

I think you are absolutely right Msabir. This is exactly what I got while dialling this number. After checking the status of my FP, the FBI lady told me there is another process done by them - name checks.

She mentioned this is where they have a bottleneck nowadays. When I asked if there was a way to check the status of my name check she said she did not work in that area, but she said she knew that the FBI was not responding to those requests because of they are overloaded and focusing their efforts in processing the names instead of checking the status.

I called FBI no. 3046352000 and asked for customer service. First one guy took the phone and redirected to another lady. She took my Alien no. - then confirmed my DOB and full name from the system. She indicated when the FBI check was initiated from TSC and the date FBI replied. She was very good. Ofcourse every other word I used madam , please, excuse me etc... This worked for me - this may or may not work for others- It all depends upon who pick the phone on the other side.
Good luck

I've tried calling that number and got a message saying that the number is not in service..

Here's where I stand with my case : my wife and I have filed for I485/EAD/AP on 09/13/2006 (our PD is 10/21/2001  ).
My wife (who's an irish citizen) got her EAD and AP approved on 09/26 and 10/21 respectively. Bu as far as I'm concerned, I haven't had any LUDs on my EAD/AP since we filed (I'm a moroccan citizen). I was just wondering if this difference in treatment between spouses is linked to the fact that my name check could still be stuck while hers cleared straight away. I'd appreciate if anyone of you can guide me as to how I can confirm name clearance at the FBI level. Thanks

Who is the primary applicant in your case?

I am (through employer)
Have you filed I-765 and I-131 for yourself as well, or just for your wife?
From what I hear and read on various forums, there is no connection between name check and I-765/I-131 processing.
I do hear that there could be RFE's for dependents' I-765's, esp. if I-765/I-131 are filed separately from I-485.

We've filed everything (meaning I485/I765/I131) at the same time together. I'm just surprised that she got her EAD/AP approved within a month whereas mine is still lingering out there. I agree with you : I thought the EAD/AP approvals had nothing to do with name check (but who knows..)

Let us know if you have better luck...

APPROVED!

Got the emails today... finally! Thank you everyone here for all your support. These forums kept my hope alive for these past 4 years, and I thank you all for that.

Wish you all luck and may you too see approvals soon!

I'm going out to celebrate now!

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your approval!!! It appears that TSC is currently working on those cases received on May (since almost last 3 out of 5 approvals came from May applicants). There have been some cases which were filed later but approved earlier, though. May, June applicants, let's be patient!

question

Can anyone know how many visa numbers already used for EB2 India
we have only 2885 including primary and dependent visa numbers

if it over limit then we have to wait until Oct 2007
its very tough

my RD is July last week, PD is current, dont know when i'll be getting approval

The EB2 India cut-off dates might retrogress !

........

There are many non-RIR labor cases with PD 2001 and early 2002 which are beginning to get approved. So the India EB2 cut-off dates may go backwards. I was salivating at the 1 - 2 month approvals at this forum. One has to 'fight' the extended security check and then the priority date retrogression. Phew...

no, i dont think so, even if old PD 2001 and early 2002 get approved, their RD will be Nov/Dec and right now TSC are processing RD of may 2006

they have to approve all PDs who are before Jan 2003 and their RD's are current with TSC processing timeline

how can we know about visa numbers for EB2 used
lot of EB2 vases are approving in all centers Vermont,Nebraska and California are also getting approvals with respect to Texas

getting frustration really ..pd is 2001 and still no approval

My husband and I are going to China for three weeks on 18/11. My H-1b is expired, now my status is I-485-pending. I got my I-765 and I-131 approvel a few weeks ago. My question is what documents I should bring with me? Is there any risk to return to U.S? Thank you.

I-485 applications also take visa number

It is not only the approvals that take visa number, but the I-485 applications too . So it gets depleted fast.

My infopass confusion

I had my infopass meeting today. The officer - an old man - was very friendly. He said my case is under review. He indicated that the background check will be initiated only when my RD is current - which is . Is this true? He said even USCIS cannot tell the status of background check - He checked his system and said everything is fine. He told me to contact him if I do not hear wihtin next 60 days!!!!! My god. Does this make any sense? My PD is current and RD is May 3rd. It is height of frustration.
