Transferred to Local INS office in Washington -Aug 15th RD

EAD Renewal at local office

Guys,

Now that we haven't received our interview letters, EAD renewal is nearing. Do you guys now how soon we should apply for EAD renewal at the local office. For Vermont we used to apply three months or more in advance so that in the event EAD doesn't come thru, we could get an interim EAD thru local office.

How soon should one apply with the local office? Does the three month rule still apply here?

I will say one to one and half month by post or person, then go to local office after 15 days from receving your Receipt note.
it does not matter even it little bit early in applying,because it depends on when you are going to local office or also they are issuing new EAD dates from date of your current EAD expire only if you ask them at the EAD receiving gate.

Share some experience

Today I went to the office to have my passport stamped. On the counter, I told the officer that it's very difficult to make the appointment in infopass, they are gone so fast. He told me that you can choose ANY category in the appointment page and come here for the specific issue. They don't care which category you choose as long as you bring the infopass appointment. So if you get "no information available" in the category you need, just choose any other available ones to get an appointment first. Hope it helps.
 
EAD photo

Wonderfulboy, when you go to local office to apply for the EAD renewal, do you need to take 2 passport photoes with you or they take it there? Anybody knows if the EAD application was transferred to the local office, do you need to retake the photoes? Thanks!
 
Actually, you don't need take any photos with you , if your case is at local office, the application has a photo(physically) and also they will make instant photo at EAD collecting counter just like DMV.

Hi Friends,

No photos required as save_intvu said they will take picture there. I got our EAD for 1 more year sucessfully yesterday.

Now just waiting for approval letter in my mail box.

What is your experience on renewing a fresh EAD at the local office. ? Any timelines?

I don't know whether they have any timelines or not. But in our case our EAD's are expiring by 2/10/2005. We went on 21st January to get the EAD renewed. They asked us to come on 26th Jan to come and pick up EAD.

We went on 26th i.e. yesterday to local office and they took the picture and immediately issued EAD thats all.

Thanks for your reply. In your case, EAD's were transferred from Vermont to the local office and thats how you ended up going to the local office to collect them. If my I-485 interview doesn't come through, I will have to put in my 4th EAD application and this really sucks. Another (2x @$175) needs to be paid for someone who has been slacking all year around.

I received my interview letter today. My case was transfered to DC in Dec 2003. The interview date will be on Feb 17. However, I will travel from Feb 10 to Feb 23. I read that you asked your lawyer to reschedule the interview date for your wife. Please let me know what is her status and your suggestion.

Do I have to do the fingerprints again, because the interview letter also mentioned about it? If so, how and where to do it?

Does the medical exam have to be redone also?

Did the Immigration picture you took used at your interview?

I don't know what supporting center you went to I went to Alexandria Support Center around 9:10am they checked the letter exactly at front of the door and they gave the token after filling up the form. I went to gave my finger prints and gave all the finger prints. During the time of taking finger prints i told the lady that i gave finger prints in July 2004 (2nd Finger Prints).

For my wife yes the lawyer gave a letter requesting INS local office to reschedule the interview after the date comfortable for her. When i went for the interview the officer took a copy of it and he did put a sticky on her file that it need to be rescheduled.

Generally Finger Prints are valid for 1 year if you have given it very recently you need not have to get it done. But for safety go to the office which was mentioned in your letter and ask them.

Does the medical exam have to be redone also?
Generally Medical Examinations are valid for 1 year only. In my case they called me for interview after 2 years of filing 485. Lawyer suggested better you take it and go. But unfortunately the officer didn't even asked for the medical report at all. But if you have the medical report given by the doctor in your previous medical exam take that it will charge your cheaper.
There is 1 INS doctor in Herndon, VA office if you show them the previous report they will charge only $120. But usually the fees is 250-350$.


Did the Immigration picture you took used at your interview? I didn't took pictures. The officer could find my pictures in his folder. But for safety you can take pictures for the interview also.

Could you post more information on your case. Like Employment category, receipt date etc.

Can anyone tell whether we are supposed to receive any cofirmation letter from Local office after submitting EAD Renewal by Post.

I have sent My EAD renewal on Nov15 and checks are cashed but have not received any kind of communicaiton so far.

Planning to take infopass for next week. My 485 was transferred to Local office in Jun04 and still waiting for interview.

When is your EAD expiring? It hasn't been three months from the time you applied for EAD. I would say, if your EAD is expiring soon, just go and bug them. Else just wait and watch. Don't waste your precious time talking to these rude people.

I understand its frustrating to see that there isn't any update on the processing dates for employment based cases. I am going to be in the same situation very soon because I haven't received any interview letter.
 
How long does it normally take to get an approval letter after you have an interview but stuck with security check?
One month? Two months?

I did my interview on 4th January 2005. I got response from FBI through email on 14th January that they completed my Security Check on 13th January 2005 and is transferred to Washington DC office. Today is 31st January 2005. Its almost 1 month i am waiting for approval letter.

Atleast 2 weeks after i got the confirmation that FBI cleared the security check.


Hope it will come in the month of February 2005.
 
Senator - Warner vs. Allen

Guys based on your past experinces which Senator's office is better in responding to the queries. I read somewhere that Senator Warner is Pro Immigration and Sen. Allen is not in favor of immigration.
