Tracker: Waiting for Derivative's I-485 Approval

biometric for less than 14yr?

My son is 10 yrs old

But as per my understanding there is no finger printing or any such thing for the kids less than 14 years. Did USCIS change the rule or my understanding is not correct?

Infopass

We have our infopass on Sept 7th, 10:15AM. Can anyone help with the prep work? What documents to carry? I was thinking:
1) Copy of the approved I 140 and GC (primary)
2) Copy of I485 (derivative)
3) Current EAD and passport (derivative)

Info to ask for: Current status of the I 485 that is pending for 2.5yrs now; background check and security checks cleared or not; if not then date(s) initiated.

Any thing else that might be helpful?

From What i have read in this forum somewhere , they have changed the procedure(as USCIS do not have any standard procedure:mad: )

I think your list is good enough. Don't forget to take infopass appointment letter with you too (the one you have off the website when you make an appointment online). It's probably a good idea as well to ask them if your husband's second FP has been cleared and uploaded in the CIS system.

NC clearance or not is definitely the key question there... you need to know where you are about this, otherwise you cannot be sure about the next action to take.

Good luck... keep us posted.

What does this mean

Groups Exempt from the Numerical Limitation
EB Spouses and Children whose visas are issued after 10/01/2004 upto the annual maximum of 800,000.
Certain Professionals including Extraordinary Ability in the Sciences, Arts, Business, and Other Critical Fields
Foreign Students with an Advanced Degree in STEM from a U.S. Institutions or Foreign Institutions
H-1B Exempt from the Annual Caps
Those with Advanced Degree in STEM from a U.S. Institutions or Foreign Institutions
H-1B Quota Increase: 115,000with a flexible market based annual adjustment upto 180,000/year
U.S. STEM Degree Holders: New visa classification and Labor Certificatioin Waiver Immigration upon receiving a job offer in the U.S.
New H-2C Unskilled Worker: Basically temporary guest workers with the opportunity to apply for permanent resident status after five years of employment in this visa status.

Hi geofu and others,

Today I received the physical Green Card and Welcome notice by Mail for my wife. See below my signature.

Congrats :)

Congrats madgu, it's finally over :)

By the way... we received three emails and have received in mail two physical things, i.e., card and welcome notice. We also received the "approval notice sent" email. Given that we received the "welcome notice sent" email and then received "welcome notice" in mail, are we supposed to receive a separate notice called "approval notice"? Either way it's I-797... All I got when mine was approved was the card and the "approval notice," so I am wondering.

It is not clear to me what your question is specifically... sounds like your quote is from part of STRIVE Act, right? Generally, as for EB based visa, that means the bill proposes the annual numerical limit to EB-based visa numbers be increased, past unused numbers be recaptured, and derivatives/those with highly demanded professional skills/knowledges be not counted into the annual numerical limit. So it does sound like a good proposal for us. The problem is, it is yet again a version of CIR, meaning the documented are sorta hostage of the undocumented... so I think how it will turn out on the Hill is uncertain.

How to wait

I am new to posting on this forum, in fact, new to posting on any forum. However I have silently been reading all your posts, using the helpful information given, cheering you all on and shedding a joyful tear when I hear of an approval.

My spouse was approved when the 'flood' of approval happened on the 08/21. We consistenly called the USCIS to hear the same information as you all - no visa, not assigned to officer, pending etc. We took an infopass 2 weeks before his approval, only to have them tell us it was 'pending' - we weren't too sure of that!!!

So I ask you all - are you, like me, constantly thinking of this green card? Wondering when it you will be approved? Checking the website a few times a day - seeing a glimmer of hope, only to have be disappointed so many many times?

I am curious to know how you are all staying patient?

I am cheering for you all.
Thanks

I think approval notice will come in mail. In my case I received first approval notice by mail and followed by card. No welcome notice. as long as you have the card it should be OK.

My daughter's GC got apporved yesterday. She is 3 years old. I did not get any FP/BIO notice. After primary approval, I applied for her AP. USCIS might have take the photo ID from her AP application. Her AP also got approved today.

Congrats for your daughter GC approval.

My 7 year old son never got "card order" email, yesterday he got approval notice in mail, waiting for couple of days and decide to call TSC.

Can any one had similar issue before?

In my daughters cases, there are no luds nor any approvals. I am also not sure that what is the best scenario to take care of my daughters 485 approvals. Please see my signaure.

As far as I've recently seen, those cases where kid derivatives are pending after the primary's approval did not take so long before hearing good news (you can see that in the spreadsheet in this thread, for example). I believe they are with an officer for final review, so hang in there. Cards may take a bit long though, because they will most likely ask for biometrics for minors nowadays.

There was a thread not too long ago about the very thing you mentioned. I'll post the link here if I can dig it out.

Appreciated!

That is giving me a kind of relief for me.

SR opened
Hi all,
I am back after almost a week's absence. My husband has been trying to get someone to talk to him at TSC since we found out that his case is at Mesquite, TX. Finally he got to talk to a lady who was willing to look into the matter, despite a lousy phone connection.
She had no answer as to why our case has been pending for so long or if all the security checks are cleared However the only thing that came of this call was that she opened a SR for us. This is the first time that our case has been put under such a 'category', so I dont know what to make of it. She says that if we dont hear from them in 30 days, we can call again.
Now my question is: should we really wait 30 days, or is there anything else we can do at this point. I have been advised to get an Infopass and meet with an officer. Is this a good idea while SR is pending? Or should we just sit tight and wait till next month?

Status on Kids cases
Hi All,
Recently I had Card ordered (CO) and welcome notice (WC) sent emails for my and my wife but I do not see any activity on my kids cases. Please see my signature.
Any thoughts on this!

I got approval notice for both my kids today, when enquired yesterday by the senator office, I got a reply to wait for 120 days! Though the senators office was angry about this and was about to ask for more details from USCIS, things turned around, and we got the approvals.
I strongly believe that contacting USCIS gives us more frustration than any remedy.
I wish all who are waiting for their derivatives approvals will get it soon.

I am not worried anymore
My wife got a magic email today. Card is ordered.

mine(primary) was approved on June 11th, 2007, and today we got an email for my wife's case.

We are very happy. Thanks to all the community here for the support and information.

Case Details: EB2, PD 12/2003; applied I485 on Sep 2005. TSC.

Note: Her EAD is still pending after 2.5 months.

We have some good news the last few weeks. Here is an updated sheet.
