Processing time for green card based on asylum

A year later? Not at all! They're asking for your medicals and then they're gonna approve it! After one year, that's right!Hi there.

Has checked case status recently and it says:
"On July 15, 2024, we sent a request for initial evidence"
Seems like a little bit too early for RFE for 639.
We'll see what I get into mail...

I was granted asylum in April 2022. I applied for my green card in August 2023.
For those who received the green card, will the issue date for my green card be decided based on the asylum granted in 2022 or on the case received by the USCIS office in August 2023?

GC will have issuance date 12 month prior the date of approval of I485 form.

So Ive got a RFE for I693 in my mail.
Which means USCIS is now processing some of August 2023 cases. 11 month. Not bad.

most likely you will wait another 4-5 months to get the GC in hand.
Ill keep updating how it goes.
Even 4-5 month is fine for me as I just want to go somewhere for the winter holidays. The next RTD is 16 month away.

That’s what they say but most likely you will get it in 14.5 but anyway when trump comes back there will be huge delay in all the immigration process!

Any approvals from June 2023?
My wife and kids filed in June 2023. Last update was fingerprints in July 2023.
We need to go to canada in September through the border and hopefully my family can receive the green card before that.

How was for asylees to get their green card back in 2016-2020???

As we patiently endure the endless delay for RTD, which is only valid for a year and requires 14 months to produce, it's interesting to note that the rest of the world can manufacture it in just a few months. Meanwhile, its validity period ranges from 2 to 10 years. We reside in a country where the immigration system is utterly dysfunctional and broken!!!!

Not having immigration rights is the goal of US government. Very sad!!!
That’s why after getting your Green Card you should renew your home country passport!!! It’s bizarre that we have to wait a year and a half to have a document valid for a year!

Very risky and you could pay the price for that when you go for your neutralization process! Some people got away with it and others had hard times and the USCIS officers used it against them and asked tons of questions about their asylum cases which is not normal! I wont do it and take the risk to be honest!
Do you anybody who had troubles because renewed a passport? I never heard.

recently on the N-400 telegram group i saw 2 cases that struggled and the officer had to open the asylum case before giving a decision and now he sued them cause he is been waiting for decision since 95 days!!! In the end you might go away with it like many people but i wont gamble it after long journey like that here!
I see. I spoke with three different attorneys and they all said the same thing: USCIS have been very soft in regards of asylees using home country passports. If you read the USCIS online guide “How do I get a refugee travel document” it is clear: you will need a Refugee Travel Document to come back to USA. But you MAY use it instead of your passport (they do not use YOU NEED).
