Congratulationssss! Well deserved

It depends on how you see it. Most of us have impatiently waited decades and worked decades to get to the asylum stage where we feel safe after being granted asylum. Using the COP passport might expose you to many risks since it means that you're still acting as citizen of that country and are using a service from the country you say you're escaping. This doesn't make sense and it shouldn't be a risk. We can't just pretend it's okay to do that while it literally and clearly violates asylum conditions - and since we are fleeing from persecution and hate, we shouldn't even want to have anything to do with it before we become USA citizens. This is probably my ICE and passport control trauma talking, but I really think this is a reasoning one would use. In addition, peace of mind and well-being are also important. Many of us suffered decades to get asylum; waiting a couple more years is nothing compared to that. I cannot wait lol.
As much as possible I honestly would never use my passport, but the there are so many limitations to travel only with RTD. Plus, RTD being expired in a year puts us in more difficult situation. I currently have situation where I need to travel outside the country and be back multiple times. With RTD Expiring in a year and taking more than 1 and half years.

Wow took you about 10 months !

I have applied mine on December 6th 2022 with medical, And the current status is as :

Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken

" As of December 28, 2022, fingerprints relating to your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC23xxxxxxxx, have been applied to your case. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. "

Same here! It's all good and it's definitely not surprising at all. I applied on December 1st, 2022. So many applications within my range got accepted, and so many applications before mine are not even fingerprinted - and comparing within the range isn't helpful because so many I-485 are not AOS and have faster processing times. Either way, we're both well within the processing times and there is a much higher % of applications being processed than applications that were approved or rejected. Hang in there :D :D :D

Fingers crossed my friend , hope we get the approval by 6 months or less .

Does anyone know how long does refugee travel document approval take these days? I applied in May 2022 but have not heard anything yet.

Guys, same as you. Some cases don't show"Fingerprints Were Taken"status, meaning nothing. It's a techinical issue according to USCIS Emma live agent. I also found something interesting, many refugee based 485 cases (shows fees waiver) in MSC239000 to MSC239031 range have been approved. That's incredible! It means these case were approved with 1-5 months. If possible, could it apply to asylee based 485 cases? Just my guess.

How do you know all of these are refugee base I-485 ? I think These datas are for all kind of I-485 basis ( family , work , asylum ,etc ) so the data does not give you information on basis of I-485 . which we do not know if all basis have been treated the same or one has faster processing time .we don’t know Which office is reviewing each cases and many more . In general cases are moving faster but not all cases get approved within 1-5 months .

I am between in that range and it took me 15 months too approve because they have been transferred my case from different office to NBC. I think they know some of these 131 waiting there for long time.

Was it one year back dated???

I have not. USCIS closed my travel document case by error several months ago and then they opened it again.
If they made a mistake , this could be a strong reason to expedite your case . Prepare a draft and send it to them and let them know that they have done mistake on your case . request to expedite based on their policy . below is the basis of expedition from uscis website :
  • Severe financial loss to a company or person, provided that the need for urgent action is not the result of the petitioner’s or applicant’s failure: (1) to timely file the benefit request; or (2) to timely respond to any requests for additional evidence;[3]
  • Emergencies and urgent humanitarian reasons;
  • Nonprofit organization (as designated by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)) whose request is in furtherance of the cultural or social interests of the United States;
  • U.S. government interests (including cases identified as urgent by federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Department of State (DOS), DHS, or other public safety or national security interests); or
  • Clear USCIS error

Even with the error caused by USCIS, if the application is within processing time per USCIS estimates, do you think can I still request to expedite my case?

You can try and see what they response will be . If they closed your case and reopened it again ,I’m not sure it adds up to your processing time and your clock reset again . I think you should write a good draft and try your chance because they processing time keep increasing every month and I won’t be surprised if it reaches to 2 yrs soon
