Post- S 1932/HR 4241 Reconcilation Efforts

Half to one page

Guys make a HALF to ONE page MAX letter/fax.

Anything more and they will lose Interest. Simply mention "Support Section 8001 in S1932". That is goingto be VERY imp, for them to understand. 8001 does NOT deal with h1/l1 increase, ONLY abt GCs

Sundar:

In retrospect...I agree with your suggestion. We should piggyback on the lobby that is supporting the H1B cause since they are the ones powerful enough to even allow inclusion of all these causes in a seemingly unrelated budget reconciliation bill. If we try to extricate ourselves from H1B, it will backfire. However, that doesnt mean we have to explicitly support H1B cause. We can just summarily ask for support of all the immigration clauses. Defining green cards and visas may get too complicated for Senators and HOR.

I am also wondering if Senate and House conference committee will be forced to look for "other"...liek immigration revenues... funding options to reduce the deficit since the passge of yesterdays bill in the house will most likely ensue a huge public outcry due to cuts in funding for bottom rungs in the soceity...medicare.....child care.....etc.

Support NOZDAM on this !

Folks,

Let us not have many versions, NOZDAM go for it.. we will review the letter u propose and stick to it. we should have a focussed approach otherwise, we will end up withnothing..

Go for it, we are now at 45 th over and 100 runs to score..so go for it.

Sundar:

I completely agree with you...again....

What is happening is that everyone is too excited and posting very haphazardly.....and the key points are getting drowned in the flood of informaiton......it would be ideal if we have a STICKY POST to which only a few designated people can post...This will have only a few messages which will summarize the latest and the greatest so that newscommers dont have to comb through tons of posts to find out what is happening and what message is the consensus of the forum. Is that possible???

And then we can post one consistent unified message tot he conference committee.

Santosh..ur suggestion

I agree with you, however, let us stay silent and talk on 8001, if BIG COmpanies push for immigration reforms, we have nothing to loose.. we have everything to gain. If they did not push hard..it does not affect us, we will simply focus on "8001" and " Immigrant Visas" That would automativally exclude h1/l1 (Since they come under NON-IMMIGRANT Cat). Let us stay silent on the word VISA. We are trying to push stones to build pyramid, so we need to pick the right stones to make it successful. Otherwise you need to go miles to the nile bank to fetch the right one,,that would take loooong time. And we need to whip ourselves to ensure we all execute it on time.

Just a thought.....

What if we print this FINAL letter and get signature form Americans. I know a lot of my American friends who would sign it in a heartbeat. Get as many signatures as we can and then fax them to the Senators. When they see that there is participation by actual voters in this campaign, maybe they will pay even more attention to it?

Ya?

How about mentioning the <AMT>$ by adding 8001 to bill

Guys this Bill 1932/4241 is about deficit reduction and budget cuts. Why not calculate and post the $$ amount gained by adding immigration relief (8001, 8002 from SR 1932).

All they are trying to do with this Bill is to cut some unwanted cost and at same time try to make extra amt by tweaking or charging for few things.

If they see immigration, they might shy away but if they see $$ they might think differently

$$ Will speak

Excellent Suggestion, pls include the $ that the gove will gain. For example 1000000 VISa * 1000 would be 100 million, so a family of 3 means 300 million $, this would attract them like bees.

2. Please let us focus on one or two individual to comeup with a letter and we will freeze the letter for mailing next wed ?

I don't think it is good idea for us to mention the figures in our letter. Our problem is retrogression and so let's keep it simple and ask them to address this problem. All politicians in washington have their own agenda and so let's not go in that details.

I would suggest that we just format simple letter that will ask them address retrogression problem. Send this letter to following senators and house of representative who are currently playing major role in Washington.

***** LEADERS IN THE HOUSE *****
- Dennis Hastert (R-IL) -- Speaker of the House
- Roy Blunt (R-MO) -- Majority Leader
- Deborah Pryce (R-OH) -- Republican Conference Chair
- Jim Nussle (R-IA) -- Chair of Budget Committee Chair
- Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) -- Chair of Judiciary Committee
- Lamar Smith (R-TX) -- Senior Member of the Judiciary Committee

***** LEADERS IN THE SENATE *****
- Bill Frist (R-TN) -- Majority Leader

I just heard a republican cong (couldn't get the name) on cspan say that they (reps) want to get the conferences reconciled for all the bills voted on this week, before the house goes for ThanksGiving

Gcdedo are u sure this is our committee??

This is not great news, none of the immigration supporters like Sen Arlen Specter are in there :(

The List I had given was from Budget commitee, So My Guess is that anything to do with Budget deficit matters, these people MIGHT be there in reconcilliation commitee as well..

May be reconcilliation commitee may not have all the members listed above but surely some members..this is my guess..

i would not stress too much on the $$$$ right now........afterall what is the few millions in the total which is around 50 billion...for this bill..

and remember....the $$$ may piss them off since we are talking about immigration related stuff.........

in my opinion creating awareness.....and sympathy(family being affected) can generate more positive interest in our cause....

SYMPATHY is the name of this game

Techy i totally agree,

Guys our BEST bet is SYMPATHY.
Pls focuss on getting sympathy, by stressing abt ur familes etc.
