Hello Guys

I have noticed in the Excel sheet for the June .... Sep Excel sheet the following

For the persons who have applied seperate I-140 and 1-485, the EAD approval and AP Approval is yet to come, where as guys who have sent the application together, they have recieved their EAD and AP.

Just wondered if this really coincidense or it really matters. My lawyer has sent my I-140 on 10/24 and will send the I-485 after the we get the reciept of I-140 from BCIS, that is after 2 to 3 weeks of I-140 filing.

Can anyone help me in this querry.

Thanks

Vicky

How do you know that you got a RFE without getting your receipt number .

Also, Could anyone tell me how long it would take to get the receipt number from BCIS after filing .

Thanks,

What does the Receipt # really mean??

Hi folks,

I just got a copy of my Receipt notice frim my lawyer. My info:

RD: 10/28/03
ND: 10/31/03

My question:

What does the Receipt # mean??

Example: EAC 04-012-XXXXX

My understanding is that EAC stands for the Service Center

First 2 letters is the Year

The next 3 letters are the day of the year when the info was entered in the system

The last 5 letters are a randomly generated case #.

If the above is correct then WHY DID I GET A RECEIPT NOTICE WITH 04 (2004) AS THE YEAR IN THE RECEIPT NUMBER (AS ABOVE) EVEN THOUGH MY APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED IN OCT. '03????

Can anyone shed any light? has anyone received the same type of #??

Thanks.
S

Here - I shed light

October 1, 2003 is the first day in the Year 2004 for the Federal government and its agencies.

Good Luck!

Receipt number numerology

EAC-04-001-5xxxx
'04' stand for year 2004. USCIS year works from October 1st to September 30th.
001 shall be October 1
002 October 2 so on and so forth
5xxxx is the serial number. usually the first file on that particular day shall be 50001 then 50002

hope this is clear.

And you don't have to go there in person, you can apply using form 131. But you better have a valid reason for getting AP. Some local offices don't issue them unless you have a valid reason for AP (and get my work permit ? same as AP, but dpends on BCIS official you meet. )

Thanks in advance,
ST.

Ok looks like things are not as simple as I was told they were. I was under the impression that after you apply for I-140/I485, you can get your workpermit the next day.

How long does it take to get receipt notice ? Can I get workpermit without applying for AP ?
