New York City Transfers

Hana

My dear friend would you be kind enough to post your details.
You have been on this forum for quite a long time and we are all well aware of your pain, distress, anguish etc etc. but unfortunately you did not think it was necessary to share with other people in the forum about your approval untill DEGUCHI reminded you.
Anyway Good luck to you.

I hate to say...

...I agree with hardworkgc...

...But anyway Hana I am really happy for you and your approval is just a sign that there is still hope with NYC office!

Enjoy your freedom and keep visiting us,we want to share our "happy day" when we get our approval.

Of cource I did it but also apology

Tara 2003 & HardworkGC,

Do you know how long I dreamed about posting "Approved" in this forum???? (way too long to mention) Of course, that was the first thing I did after I came back from the interview!!! I have TWO posts under "I-485 Issues in Vermont Service Center".

BUt BIIIIG apology that I did not post it in this thread... Sorry.

This forum has been a great (or I should say "only") support I had while my case was pending for a "Very" long time. I felt people here were the only ones who really understood the pain.

I will be checking this forum and will be there to congratulate you when your cases get approved - and I really hope it will be very soon!! If I can help you in any way, I will be there.. at least I have "a lot" of experience...

Hana :)

Hana, thanks for your replay,I didn't mean to get you upset...
Anyway,i guess we missed you when you posted your approval and it is been such a pain waiting for "New York City Office" schedule interview for people who are waiting such a long time, maybe this is the reason that we expected you to post your approval in this thread(NYC Transfers).Just relax and enjoy your approval.

note:Tata2003 not Tara2003...that's ok.

Anyone heard anything from Garden City recently. It's been 6 months now since i had my interview and I didn't hear anything. My lawyer said that this is in the normal waiting time, but was unable to tell me what is the normal waiting time.

No,nothing.
By the way,did you check NYC processing times today? It changed yesterday.I have posted some comments about it under I-485 transfers to local office thread. They were processing May 9/2002 in january,Feb 14/2002 in february and now they are processing cases with receipt notice of May 10/2002 again. Can anybody explain it???I am so confuse!

They probably transferred the other cases to the national benefits centers, from what i've read on this forum thats what federal plaza is doing now to even out the work load.

i485 transfered to MO BCIS

Last week I went to 26 Federal Plaza to check my i 485 case status which was transfered in Mar 2003.

I was told that my case is no longer with them. VSC transfered it to another state shortly after it's transfered to 26 Federal Plaza.
Initially the representive was reluctant to tell me which state it is due to security reasons. Then I showed her my i 764 renewal notice which was mailed from MO BCIS. She said this is the state my case is with.

Later I called 1-800-375-5283 to inquiry my husband and my cases. The representive told me that the name under both Alien number are my husband's. I should go to the local office to correct them first.

I'm just so confused. I fear our cases might be lost during the transfer.

Does anyone know how to find out the case status except for calling the 1-800 number? Does lawyer has special communication channel to BCIS? I just want to know where is my case, how long I have to wait.

Thanks in advance,

P.S. My RD is Nov 2001.

Hi WaitForGC@485

My case is similar to yours and I am just curious to know if we can find out more information on where our cases are rigth now.
My case was transferred to NYC,26 Federal Plaza on January 6,2003 and since that the online message haven't change for our I485.(Iam the applicant and my husband and 2 kids derivative)
When we applied for our 3RD EAD last december,we got receipts to go for biometrics appointment from Missouri SC,and later on we received the EADs also from them,so instead a EAC# we got MSC#,they did a good and quickly job there and we received our EADs in less than 2 months from application date.
Last january 29 my lawyer sent a status inquiry to 26 Federal Plaza to find out when they are going to schedule our interview and to make sure where our case is at this time...Maybe if they processed our EADs in Missouri SC our case could be there, but i don't believe they have to do that just for EAD renewal. But my lawyer got know answer from them yet.
How did they let you in at Federal Plaza with out an appointment?
Is anything we can do to find out where our cases are?Maybe a fax number or something. It has to be a ligth at the end of the tunnel....

Hi Tata2003

26 Federal Plaza accept in person inquiry. You have to be there very early (better before 7am) to get in and wait less time. The queue is very long usually, several thousands of people. Last week I think because of the weather is not good, the queue is amazingly short.

When you get in you will be directed to 3rd floor information room. Just tell the officer that you want to find out your i485 case status, then you will get a green form and go to 8th floor, there you can talk to a representitive.

I'll ask my lawyer to write a letter to VSC next Monday.
Please keep me posted about your inquiry result.

regards

Hi WaitForGC@485

Thanks a lot for your information.I will try to go there this week than I will post details.
Thanks and Good lucky.

Note:I think next step will be contacting senator.

I called several lawyers, I was told there is no special channel for lawyer to inquiry 485 case. They can only call the 1-800 or write a letter. I was also told it's not unususal that cases transferred in Mar 2003 hasn't been processed yet.

Is it useful to write to senator? How?

My case was transferred on Nov 02 and I haven' heard back yet. I have written numerous letters and gone in and submitted status inquiry forms but have never received a response. I tried the senator route as well to no avail. It seems like until the update the online processing time to be after the transfer date they don't consider it overdue.
I wish there were some way of getting a little more information.
A friend of mine applied for Canadian permanent residence the same time I applied for my US permanent residence. He is now a Canadian citizen and I have the pleasure of being on advance parole......

Hi everyone,

I just came home from 26 Federal Plaza.I got there at 7:00am,they opened at 7:30 and i was done by 8:30am.Not too bad for my first time there...
Well, they sent me to the 3rd floor and there they gave a green form to fill out and sent me to the 8th floor where I took a short line of 3 or 4 people to speak to the officer (there were about 200 people inside the room waiting for different things, like interview and fingerprint).
The nice lady who I spoke to told me that my case is in Missouri Service Center now(as I said before,we have received our 3rd EAD from them) and that office is suppose to schedule my interview wich still is going to take place in NYC.She also said that MSC will start to send a interview notice in July/04.I asked her if I should expect my interview this year and she answered that she cannot say yes or no,it depends on MSC and how it goes. She said that the reason for these delays is because of 9/11.
Even that going to NYC office to find status of my case did not make a difference in my process,I am glad I went 'cause now I am going to try to enjoy my life here and stop suffering too much waiting for a interview letter from INS.Now that I really know that they are still doing slow it is better try to think in another things before I go crazy!!!Good lucky to all!

Transfer to Missouri

Hi Tata2003

Thanks for the information. I was worried on the transfers to Missouri and wondering where the interview takes place.

Your information gives a great relief to me that the interview will happen here.

But any idea on why she said that MSC will start sending Interviews in July 2004?

thanks

Hi coldfusion

I believe that NYC already have enougth interviews scheduled for the next 3 months,(april, may and june) and this is the reason MSC will start to send interview notices in july for the rest of the year, monyh by month. She did not say why MSC will start to schedule interviews just in july but I think NYC office is not ready yet to book more interviews. And when i asked her if i should expect my interview for this year, she said that the answer could be yes or no,depends on MSC and how the interviews goes.

Note: If NYC office does not have enougth time to send interview notices,(that is why MSC is going to do it)where they are going to find time to conduct the interviews?Just asking myself...
...and my lawyer garanteed me in january, that i was going to be approved by middle of march/04.

Transfers to Missouri Service Center

Thanks Tata2003

It seems like if you are waiting so long for the Interview. If that is the case then I have to wait for more than a year. So let me not worry too much now on this

By mistake I put my TD as March 2002
It is March 2004
