Hi GCNoEasy,
Looks like our cases are going parallel. I too got two LUD's on my 485. Please see the signature for details. I went to infopass afterwards and came to know the my Name check is pending and wife's NC is cleared. Did you happen to find any info about your name check?

which country you belong to? Shouldn't the visa dates be current to allocate Visa number so that 485 is approved?

Worldwide. You only get to SUBMIT an application for I-485 WHEN a visa number is available. So if you submitted and it was accepted, you have a visa number.

Received EAD approval email

EAD approval for me and spouse CRIS email August 29th for card production ordered. Still waiting for AP and 485.

Lets hope you are correct. In the earlier discussion in the forum, somebody mentioned that even though you file 485 when Visa dates are current, if they retrogess after that, we have to wait till the date become current again to get visa number....

Visa Allocation

Sorry buddy. For all but a few exceptions you're wrong.

Visa number allocation is SUPPOSED to happen at the very END of the adjudication. For that final step, the priority date is again supposed to be current. Visas are not systematically assigned when your application is accepted.

With the fiasco in June/July the USCIS broke a lot of their own procedures and occasionally people just get through but the overwhelming majority DO have to wait for visa numbers to be assigned and in most instances this will only happen after security checks are completed and priority dates are current.

You only get to submit an application when numbers are available, in general sense. It is only a prediction of the agencies.
A submitted (and even accepted) application is not a guarantee of an assigned visa number.
Think about it for a minute. If every submitted, and accepted application gets a visa number, why would all those people who filed AOS in 2005 wait for 2+ years to get the AOS approval (GC)? Since their application was accepted, retrogression should not have affected them as, per your theory, visa numbers were already allocated to them when their applications were accepted.

All in all, allowing to submit I-485 only means that some visa numbers are unused and they may be used for the new, or existing applications. It only provides for interim benefits if they apply to your case.
Besides that, no other guarantees of any kind. It is a matter of luck.

All those that have been getting LUDs on their I-485 applications, hope it goes through all the way to the 'Approval Notice Mailed' stage.

No I haven't. Even if my name check is cleared, I'm not sure I have the visa numbers available on my case. So I'm just waiting....

I don't think its true. I have seen other cases where they waited for sometime after everything is cleared (name check etc) and got the approval once the number becomes available.

IO said name check clear and visa allocation is possible someone worked on my case, what does it means?

How did you find this out?
I am trying to call but cannot get past the standard CSRs.
This explains why I am not able to sell much. :)
What do you say to the CSRs to have them transfer you to the IOs?
Thanks.
