HArtford is snail slow I know its a $175 but it is better than taking the risk of being without it, you can slways check to see if you can get a refund if your 485 approves before the EAD. I don't think that there is a time frame if you ask me I think they make their rules up as they go along. Sorry I can't be of much help but just when you think you have USCIS figured out they go and change everything.

Thanks a lot for answering and effort. I will probably do that what you suggested. I did not even know that INS gives refunds at all. Anyway it is good to know that is possible. Btw. Have you ever heard that anybody got refund from them?

Hi Imawaiting, please post more details. When did you get the interview letter? What is your interview date (if not exact, give us approxmn). It is not only you, but we are also waiting for people in august to get interview letter as that will give us some hope.

My letter came saturday and interview is in a couple of weeks time I don't want to disclose the date (don't want to jinx it) I tell you something it is a real feeling of relief and contentment jsut hope it all goes well and no set backs. Thats all the detail I have the letter states to bring
passports, I94's, employer letter, 3 years tax returns pay stubs. I know its not much help but at least we can see movement which is a good thing.
I think it will not be long for the rest of Aug to come through it is 8 months and I was told 7-9 months via congress enquiry be patient good things come to those who wait. ;)
 
Hartford on the move again !!

Thanks for the details. Other August TD's please update when you get your Interview letters. It may be also a good idea to visit the INS for you and update us if that helped.

Imawaiting .. Understand your situation and lookng forward to hear from u after the interview date and I am sure you will get the good news by then too :)

Hi Pibo:

No letter yet from hartford but I'm hoping this week will be my week. I have some friends whose cases were transferred a month after mine and they got their letter on saturday. Interview is June 10th. So Hartford is moving. Let's hope for the best.
 
There giving about 2 weeeks notice so make sure you are prepared.

Hi Jannan, if you could please write the transfer dates of your friends, that will be great. I assume that their cases were transferred to hartford, right? I think the 5000 cases were transferred in june - july as far as I remember, so they may move faster now.

Date Transferred to Hartford

Hi everyone, I have been following this forum for months but this is my first post. I was wondering how do you determine the date a case was transferred to Hartford. Is it the date that is mentioned on the online status as being transferred or should I receive something from Hartford saying they have received it ?

I am going there this week to find out more info even though I'm pessimistic about their response. I went through the state congressman to get an answer from Hartford but they got a letter stating my interview won't be until September since they received over 5000 cases around the same time. Should I even bother to go to hartford or do I still have a long wait left ?

I appreciate any suggestions / answers...

I am not sure of my friends exact date of transfer to Hartford but I do know that it was after mine. Mine was transferred in August hence I would say September 2004. And they already got their interview letter. Don't really know what order Hartford is going in but as long as we get the letter I'll be ok. My friend receipt date with USCIS is September 2002 though. So maybe they are taking that in consideration.
 
Jannan, i know that edvttores had RD in july/aug 2003, but he got his letter in dec, 04. I don't think that they are going in any particular order. Are there more than one people whom you know got transferred after you and got letter or is it just one? Also, did you go to hartford and asked about the actual transfer date?

for me, my TD is 11/23/04, now I went there in dec and they said that the file is already there and it came on 11/30. Then I went again in feb and the guy said "your file just came". I asked "what do you mean by just came". he said that the box was opened and scanned on 2/3/05. Now I do not know what they meant by that. I don't know what they go by; TD or hartford arrival date or box opening date :mad:

but when I went in april, they mentioned again that your file came on nov 30th, so I think that is imp.

I believe the TD on notice letter is absolutely meaningless! The case should be scanned into Hartford center's database. Getting tired of this waiting game... :(

Don't believe what you hear unfortunately there is no order to how they are picked up, I have been informed that they are trying to get rid of all the 2002 cases. I know it is frustrating believe me I have been waiting in this Hartford forum for 19 months. We had a quiet period because we had no July cases but now the 1st Aug case has received the letter so we know that HArtford is moving and it is only a matter of time before everyone starts getting the letters I would say in about 1-2 months max if not then take action write to congressman I think visiting HArtford is a waste of time nobody knows anything, and the outcome is disappointing.
 
I also felt that going to Hartford is absolutely frustrating! Specially after my last visit in late April. They said 18 months! I asked if my case is given to somebody for review yet. they said NO. Also, they mentioned that these two offices are separate and they have no connection!!!! So they don't know exactly what's going on there. But I personally feel that all remaining august/sept people can go there once sometime soon to find out if the case has been assigned to somebody or not!!!!
 
My friends consist of 3 family members. Husband , wife and child. All with different case numbers transferred at different dates ranging from about september 2004 yet one interview letter mentioning all three cases for interview on 6/10. I like that. Mine is the same situation. Hope all three of us will get just one letter and the same interview date. Still hoping and praying as the days go by.
 
We are a family of 3 and 1 addition, the children are not on the letter but both our names is on our interview letter, we just needed pics for the child, and birth certificate for the addition.

I have been putting my ear to the ground and I have found out that HArtford has had quite a few interviews over the past 2 weeks and quite a few set for the next 2 weeks thats a good sign it means they are on the move. I have also noticed all the other local transfers (NYC NEWARK PHIL) have gone quiet maybe its our turn to have some movement.

Change of Heart over Hartford Office !!

Well, here is some good experience from Hartford Office.

My I-485 is in the process (w/ Hartford Office). My lawyer filed APs and EADs for us in March in California (don't ask why). They got transferred to Hartford in May. My situation was becoming difficult as we needed both APs and EADs soon - H1 expiring this month (June) and planning to attend family weddings in next month in India. Applying for H1 extension and scheduling interview for stamping in India(or even in Canada) would have been nightmare situations for us.

So I took InfoPass appointment for June 3 just to try my luck. The lady told they cannot do interim EAD as it was not even 90 days of filing, and for AP she needed life/death emergency proof. On description of my story, she spoke the three golden words "let me try". And then she did both the documents for me. Then she asked me to bring my wife if I wanted to do her documents as well. Well, I couldn't say - I didn't take her along because I never imagined something like this can happen at INS. Could any of you imagine?
