I was at Akai House today for my medical results and I learnt I will have to pay extra GHC 40 for the remaining two shots for HepB, making 300 in total.

Only at the police (CID) headquarters in Accra. It costs 10 cedis for residents and you can get it after five working days. Non-residents pay $100 or so. Please call 021-781441/779331 to find out. I am sure you wouldnt need to travel to Ghana to get it.

Jorje, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Guys, how is the trend at the embassy, my sis is scheduled for July so any help in preparing her would be appreciated

The embassy will give her a last minute counselling to decide whether to go ahead to "waste" or pay the $775, or rescend the decision to process the visa. If she wants to process, she would be advised not to postpone her interview date. The embassy, on the that day, will recquire only her passport, three passport photos, the $775 and the qualifying docs (eg, birth cert, school certs, etc.). The financial support, police cert and the medicals can be sent later. But, I would personally advise her to send all the docs.

Thanks, she and the husband haven't done their med yet because they say to wait on a leaflet after the interview. She is entering her 4th year at tech, and hubby pursuing nursing. Do you think I should let them take the med. They have the police report, school cert and marriage cert and the rest

I want for my interview in May and I was given three months to go back with the medicals. Imagine her being treated the same way. Call the embassy to find out "WHETHER DOING THE MEDICALS BEFORE INTERVIEW WILL BE ACCEPTED"- quote it. The medicals will cost the two of them about 600 cedis and the embassy only doesnt want them to waste that money in case they are denied on their first interview. Please if she did not include the husband's name in the original electronic application, he will not be given the visa. There is a notice to that effect at the window 2 (not outside the embassy).

Ghana Police Report With Finger Prints

Hi, Jorj,
which police station in Ghana can one receive Police report and what does it entail to obtain it ?

Hello Abeku66,

If you are not traveling to Ghana to get the report, you must go to scotland yard to get your finger prints taken to transfer to Ghana for the Police Clearance.

Went for my interview in London and have been asked to get my fingerprint taken and cleared in Ghana before coming for the VISA.

Check this website:
http://www.met.police.uk/scd/specialist_units/fingerprint_services.htm

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3568.html

It will be well for all of us.

Ghana Police Report With Finger Prints

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DEPARTMENT (CID)

HOW TO OBTAIN POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
The Police Clearance Certificate is issued to prospective travellers who have been asked to submit police report on them to check whether or not they have any criminal record.

Most foreign embassies demand police clearance before they issue prospective travellers with entry visas to those countries.

Police clearance is issued to all Ghanaians, both living at home (residents) or abroad (non-residents).

All applicants are requested to fill an application form at the Police C.I.D. Headquarters, together with two passport size photographs, as well as Ghanaian passport. However, non-resident Ghanaians can apply through resident Ghanaians.

Below are the fees charged for obtaining Police clearance:

Residents

Photo

GH¢ 10.00

GH¢ 3.00

obtainable within 5 working days

Non-Residents

$ 120.00 US Dollas

Plus 3 Passport Size Pictures obtainable within 5 working days
Employment

GH¢ 5.00

obtainable within 5 working days

MODE OF PAYMENT FOR POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE

It has been observed that cheques issued by some applicants in payment for Police Clearance Certificates especially foreign ones bounce thereby rendering this mode of payment unreliable.

The Director-General/CID has accordingly directed that henceforth cheques would no longer be accepted as payment for the processing of Police Clearance Certificate.

Hello everyone on this portal,

Got my visa and that of my wife this morning.

This portal has been very useful and I will want to thank everyone here.
The information we exchange here is priceless.
I am praying that all of you waiting will be granted favour by the most High God.
Just keep on praying

I will keep visiting the portal so keep asking the questions and having gone through I will help as much as I can.

Once again if you are processing your visa in London, get your Ghana police reports as well.

All the best

Congrat Amoreek. I am particularly happy that everyone is going to have an interview.

Has anyone with Ghana chargeability for DV2008 been granted a visa yet?
Wife won the lottery, forms completed and sent to Kentucky and received on 20/06/07.
Since then No news. We live in London and requested the posting to be done to London.
Case num: AF00030XXX.
Should we contact Kentucky to check on progress? Could medicals be done before second letter arrives. Does anyone know of a recognised medical centre in London for DV issues?

i have not yet heard of any dv2008 winner from Ghana who has been successful with the interview yet.At least from this forum.
As of the question about medical centre in London, i think abeku66 from this forum can give you more info about that. HE even left his phone number in one of the thread. I suggest you contact him dor more fila.
All the best bro

Point of correction. some dv2008 winners from Ghana who have been using this forum have been successful with their consular processing.

You should do your medical as soon as possible. I did mine about 1 mth before my number becomes current. Depending on your country of origin, medical result can be ready as early as 3 working days or some countries can go up to 2 weeks. You want to be in the safe side, I suggest you do it by next week.

I got my forms from the clinic I went to--when you made a booking (and make sure the clinic is the one approved to do immigration medical test), you will specify that this is for immigration and they will prepare the forms for you. All you have to do that day is turn up, bring your passport and other forms of id. When the result is ready, they will call you and give you the result in sealed envelope. You may or may not get a copy--that depends on the clinic.
