DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

I just received the interview notice , my derivative have a different interview time , is that the norm, are they separate interviews? What’s is the interview approval rate ?

Thank you
Do add your case progress to the timeline spreadsheet to enable others benefit from you, like you’ve benefited from this forum.

Yes I just did, would like to hear your opinion regarding my question, thank you for your efforts
You don’t have the most pertinent information listed though, information about when you filled all the way to when you received your IL are actually the most important sections that people can benefit from, and you haven’t bothered to provide those. Not sure why you’re not willing to add those.

Two other members already accurately responded to your question, there’s nothing else for me to add to what they’ve provided.

I started in my phone , plan to completed in desktop, thank you

Hello, I got a text this morning from USCIS saying my case was received. Can I make an online account for "case status updates" using the receipt number from the text message or do I have to wait until I receive the NOA in the mail?

Hello everyone, is it normal to have received the text message about the package received from USCIS two weeks ago and not have had any updates since then?

I don't know if the code that starts with MSC is the case number or if I should wait for the postal mail to bring a code that starts with IOE, perhaps someone can clarify my doubt.

Not sure if it's normal or not but that's what happened to me too. I got the actual mail like 2 weeks later. Looking at the spreadsheet (which your case is not on), it's not uncommon.

MSC is your case number. You can add it to your USCIS account or some tracker app. Or just check your status online: https://egov.uscis.gov/ Not that it would tell you anything.

You should opt in for the "Informed Delivery" feature on USPS website. Allegedly, your mail will show up in there in advance. It never worked for me though.

Hi Mom and all,

Today I have chat with Emma for my status since we only see "Finger Print taken" from Oct 17 24 and it's been over 1 month.
Emma replied that "Case was transferred to the Baltimore on 10/18/24" and I asked why it was transfer hence my address is in Brooklyn NY.
She said "Your case was transferred in order to USCIS to increase the efficiency with which we manage cases. It is normal for this to happen. Once you are scheduled, you will have it at your office" (when I ask for interview location)

1) May I know is this a normal process to transfer and will it become longer for processing?
2) If still no updates till next week, should I start following up with necessary communications?

Thanks a lot.

1. This is not unusual. Cases sometimes get transferred as part of load shedding.
2. I'll recommend you start by looking at past timelines to get an idea of how long it typically takes your assigned FO to complete DV based AOS application processing.

Hello. I once asked about the need of "KCC file" being present at the USCIS FO if the applicant is going for the AOS.

If KCC has transferred the file to the consulate but the applicant decides to do AOS before the consular interview has been conducted, how keen is the consulate on sending the "KCC file" to the USCIS FO? Do they usually send it to USCIS with no hiccups if a request has been made by the applicant to the consulate asking to transfer the fie before the consulate interview?

How can I schedule my biometrics appointment in advance?

Emma connected me with a live agent but he explained to me that I could not schedule my appointment in advance?

What did those who have managed to schedule their biometrics appointment do?

I cannot categorically say how keen an embassy may be with forwarding the KCC file to USCIS on the basis on an applicant requesting the file gets forwarded, as this is not a frequent occurrence. Keenness at releasing the file may be embassy dependent.

Take a look at the "FAQ" or "Filing Tips" tab of the AOS Process spreadsheet.

p.s. you should also add your own case to the Timeline spreadsheet by the way.

I think this doesn’t happen often as an embassy interview is definitely a bird in the hand. Very few people would trade that timing certainty for potentially months of uncertainty by switching to AOS.

Thank you all for the input. Susie is right. A scheduled interview is a bird in the hand, especially since it'll take place a few days before the new administration comes into office which is perceived as a plus.

The problem is, that my consulate is very well known for handing out DS-5535 like cupcakes and given my ethnic background (Middle East), I can probably assure myself that I am going to get one no matter what.

I am not sure if my case happens to be put in DS-5535 if it'll withstand the new administration and its potential executive order(s), thus considering the abrupt change to AOS, but I think it'll be tough to trust the embassy on transferring the file and trusting USCIS adjudicating it timely so I'm just gonna have to give in to my fate and see what happens. God I can't wait to land and be done with this forever.

Have you taken a look at some of the past timeline spreadsheets to see if your case is currently outside the average processing time for cases from your FO? That’s is where you need to start from since there’s no one size fits all in terms of “when” is a good time to initiate a congressional inquiry.
