DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Clarifying question:

The AOS spreadsheet (tab: AOS package) under the children section (column D) states:
"New fee applicable regardless of age" $1,440 as of April 1, 2024.

However, the USCIS website fee calculator for I-485 states:
"If under 14 years of age and submitting Form I-485 concurrently with the Form I-485 of one parent."
Fee: $950

Which is correct?
Great callout! "New fee applicable regardless of age" was the initial information put forward by USCIS when the price increase was first announced. That however is no longer the case. AOS Spreadsheet has been updated accordingly.

@Plus19 Hi, I noticed in the spreadsheet that you successfully completed an early walk-in at ASC Chicago! Do they typically accept walk-ins, or was this an exception? What time did you visit? Did you provide a specific reason for the early walk-in? Also, is the ASC located in Burbank, IL, as I believe? Thanks a lot!
They accept early walk-ins. Just tell them you have school or work that day that is why you are coming early.

About 500 page response to demonstrate you physically attended the language school as required? Wow! That is quite a lot of paperwork for the IO to wade through.
They asked for all our schools. I have four, and my spouse has three. We created a timeline, including transcripts, school records, bank statements for all months as proof, rental agreements, etc. They requested the same or similar documents in three different sub-requests. So we added copies for each sub-request to ensure they wouldn't say, "You didn't answer this question."

Hi, My cut number is 8×××. I applied in January. Biometrics weived. When is it time to worry and write a congressman? The case is currently in Chicago office. I don't understand what timeline is usual for that FO. Thank you

Hello!
I'm about to send my I485s as the cut-off is nearing, but I have 2 remaining questions:
- I have certified translations of the supporting documents from past visa applications (birth certificates, diplomas, marriage certificates) - Can I reuse the same documents? Translations were not done in 2024, so, do the translations need to be "fresh"?
- I'm interested in the response to the question from megdavidson26 above: to clarify, do I need to send my wife's application separately from my application, and then USCIS will reconcile both applications while processing them?

Thanks for the support! Very much appreciated.

Have a great day.

Something like this worked for us. We put complete and separate, standalone applications in 2 clear bags. Then put them in the USPS priority box. We did however choose the "Priority Express" guranteed to be delivered next day per USPS, and it did!

With the Chicago, IL FO, the delay you're experiencing is quite normal for now. The good news is your FO seems to approve DV based cases without scheduling an interview, they will send you a RFE if they need additional information from you, based on what has been observed to date for this FY. You can initiate a congressional inquiry now if you like, personally, I wouldn't at this point.

Hi @Sm1smom, my FO is Santa Ana, CA. I am hesitating to make a congressman inquiry now or wait a little bit, at least till June. I looked at previous years and only found 2-3 cases from Santa Ana, CA with interviews scheduled. Do you have any insights about Santa Ana, CA field office? Do they always schedule interviews? Is it worth waiting till June before making a congressman inquiry? Thanks in advance!

I-485 forms for children:

1. Part 8 - Public Charge section: Besides Q61 do you have to complete this section for the kids? They don't have their own income, liabilities or the schooling requirements.

Thank you.

If the past Timeline spreadsheets shows your FO has scheduled interviews in the past, and we currently do not have any new update that says otherwise, then we can assume that is what they always do. It wouldn’t hurt to wait a bit longer before pulling the congressional case assistance string.

Hey everyone, I'm on an F1 visa and working on my AOS. My high school transcripts are in English, but the dates use a different calendar system from my country. Do I need to translate them before sending them to USCIS?

Hello everyone,

I've filed my case with USCIS and received several NoA letters (I-131 and I-485) for myself and my wife. I have an attorney "helping" me with my case (I already know that it's a bad idea, but it was assigned by my company and at least I'm not paying for this service. Unfortunately, I found this resource after the attorney started working on my case). Whatever, I've received the NoAs and am waiting for my biometrics appointment. Meanwhile, I have a couple of questions:

1. In the I-131 NoA receipt for my wife, it is stated that

"Form G-28 Was Rejected Because It Was Improperly Filed

On April 9, 2024, we rejected your Form G-28, Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Accredited Representative, Receipt Number MSCXXXX, because it was not filed correctly. If you wish to be represented, please contact your attorney or accredited representative to submit a new Form G-28 to the USCIS location where your case is pending. "

Can this somehow affect my case progress? Should I act ASAP to fix that, or will it not affect my case processing, and can I provide the correct G-28 form during the interview?

2. It was the I-765 form in my package as well; however, I haven't received any NoA for it. Should I expect to receive any receipt or inquire for a receipt in NBC?

1. G-28 rejection has no impact on the case processing. It just means your attorney cannot receive updates or follow up on your behalf without a new properly filed G-28 in place.
2. The NOA for the I-765 should show up soon unless the form itself has been rejected.

1-485 FORM:

Part 2. Information About Immigrant Category

Q3. Receipt number of underlying petition (for principal applicant)
Q4. Priority date from underlying petition

1. Is this section related to Diversity Visa's?
2. If so, where do you find the receipt number for underlying petition?

Part 8. General Eligibility / Criminal Acts

Q25. If you answer YES to this question based on being cited for a speeding ticket. Wouldn't the answer to Q26 be YES also? I'm trying to understand the difference between those two questions.

Thank you.

Hello,
I sent my package to the Phoenix lockbox through USPS, and the tracking indicates it was 'Delivered to Agent, Delivered to Agent for Final Delivery' with a green mark on April 5. However, I haven't received any notifications yet. It's been 14 days, and based on the usual timeline for deliveries to Phoenix, it typically takes from 5 to 14 days to receive notification or have the check cashed. Should I be worried, or is there something I should do? If so, what steps should I take?

Thank you in advance.
