DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hi,
I am on F1 visa. My son was born this year. He is a citizen by birth. So he got Medicaid. As I had no income being an international student. He got a card for food stamps. We have been using the card for 5 months now. The letter which was mailed to us with the card for food stamps, clearly states that my wife and me are ineligible for the assistance and the money is for him ( household of 1).
Later we were informed that we can also apply for a women infant care card to provide assistance for my wife and child. That would also be given to us because of my son and not us.
Both the cards could only be used to buy food.
So my query is that while filing i485, should I agree on receiving supplemental security income / temporary / general assistance for my wife and me in question 68.a.
Sorry for the long post .
Thank you.
When in doubt, answer YES and explain accordingly.

I just want to say thank you @Sm1smom so much for the advice and wonderful forum/blog you have, it helps so many people answer their questions and hopefully guide people in the right direction to get their green card! I posted on here a couple times and your responses truly helped me and now we just received the approval notice for my brother in law and his family for the green card!
Thank you times a million!

Such great news! Congratulations to you and your brother-in-law. And thank you for returning to share this update.

Hi! I have a question about the DV fee. My number is current in January, and I want to make the payment as soon as possible. However, I am planning to move to another address in January and do not know the address where I will be moving yet. Should I wait until I move to make a payment to ensure I receive the fee, or can they send the receipt to another address when I change it?

The DV payment receipt will get sent to whichever address you list on the SASE which you’ll be including with the payment when you send it in.

Congrats on your brother-in-law's approval! How many people were in the application: your BIL, your niece, and his spouse?

Hi, mom,

I have a question. My wife and I are currently living in different locations in the United States. We plan to submit our Form I-485 together, but since I won the DV lottery, I am the principal applicant. Now, for the address section on Form I-485, should we both write my address, or should we each write our respective addresses? If we provide different addresses, does that mean our FP and interviews will be conducted at different locations? If we have separate interviews, will it have any impact on our chances of approval?

1. Why are you both living in different locations?
2. And by different locations, do you mean different States?

Providing these pertinent information will guide my further response to your questions on this issue.

Hi, mom

1. I have moved to another state this month due to work reasons, but my wife still needs to continue her studies in the state where we currently resides. She will require at least another year to complete her education, and that's why she cannot relocate to the state where I am working.

2. this is two different states, but I found the location of lockbox are same (though this is not important)

Hi mom
Is it mandatory to include details of immunity against hep A in the I 693 form? My civil surgeon says there is no need and it’s not required.

Ok. The ASC (for the bio appointment) and the FO (for AOS adjudication) are usually based on the listed mailing address on the I-485. So if you guys wish for your applications to be processed and adjudicated together, you'll need to identify one of address (which may be yours since your spouse is staying back to complete their studies) as the primary residence and list that for both of you.

If the primary address is not the same, your applications will get separated and sent to the different FOs with jurisdiction over each address. Your spouse's FO will not be able to adjudicate her application until after yours has been adjudicated by your FO and your case file gets sent to your spouse's FO.

The Lockbox being the same for the two addresses is irrelevant since both applications will get sent in together as one package.

Thank you! I just want to comfrim that the mailing address should be same (my address) if we want to adjudicate together ( I-485 part 1), but our physical addresses (I-485 part 3) will base it on our actual situation, that is, my wife and I living in two different states, so our current physical address are different. Or do we need to fill out the same information at this part as well?

Your wife should still list both your address and hers under the physical address section (since your address is meant to be considered as the primary residence, not just for mailing purposes).

Thank you! Does this mean that my wife should consider both places as her permanent residence addresses? I apologize for the need for multiple confirmations.

No the civil surgeon told me that there is no need to include hep A. As in he won’t mark hep a, only hep B is needed. Is that true?
