DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Stay in touch with the local USCIS office when they call me for an interview so that they expedite me and schedule an interview no later than the end of September 2024.
I’m not aware that is something any lawyer can guarantee, and I’ve been monitoring this process long enough for me to know what I’m saying. If you have a lawyer that says they can do that, then make sure you obtain that in writing from them.

So if paying someone to fill out your forms (after you’ve gathered all the required documents and provided it to them), and mail in your application on your behalf makes you feel better about your approval chances, then by all means go ahead and hire a local immigration lawyer of your choice.

This forum is a DIY, majority of the folks going through the DV based AOS process are doing so without the involvement of an immigration lawyer.

Good morning everyone .

Quick question again : if we received back all our documents for AOS for Green Card from USCIS because we made a mistake in one form , and they ask us to send a new filling with a correct form , what do we need to do ? We need to send them back all the documents we received from them ( because it’s already stamp with a number etc ) and just add a correct form , do we need to print all our documents again , sign with a new date and send again ? Just confused
Can you explain what mistake you made on what doc, in case is something we can be aware to fill it correctly ourselves?

Dear Community,

I sent my I-485 documents 1 week ago.
I can see that it was delivered a week ago but I didn't get any message from USCIS regarding my process.
What may be the issue? How can I track it if it was lost?

Kind regards,

I think you need to sit tight for now! Recent year timelines show that it is average for the response to take 3-4 weeks.

Hello, few more questions...

1) If a parent is filling the form I-485 on behalf of their kids (under 12 years age).. should the parent sign their official signature or just make kids signature or write kids name..
2) When i filled DS-260 for my kids, I had entered myself as preparer.. I now see through past threads telling in form I-485, parents can sign on behalf of their kids (under 14). The preparer's section in I-485 is recommended to be left blank. Should I ask USCIS to allow me to edit DS-260 to be consistent with what i plan to do in I-485 (leave the preparer's section blank)?

Appreciate your feedback..

1. Parents and legal guardians can sign all the forms for children 14, this is covered on the AOS process spreadsheet.
2. Your DS260 forms are not with USCIS, they’re with the KCC. Nonetheless, there’s no need to unlock your kid’s form for this. You can leave the form as is.

Thank you for the response.... I had read the AOS spreadsheet....1697385787598.png

But my question (may be i am overthinking it).....should the signature be Parents official signature (the signature used by parent for every other document) or sign/write the kid's name ?

Hello friends, on Monday, October 16th, the fingerprint appointment paper arrived at our address, but we only saw it yesterday because that's when we checked our mailbox. No change in the USCIS system indicated that the fingerprints were sent, so its arrival was a surprise.

The forum gave me an error saying, "I can not post. It seems like spam." How can I fix it?

How can you fix what?

I tried to write my story, but the forum gave an error when I added it. IT says to contact the admins. So I just posted the first paragraph only.
Maybe your initial post had a link? That would be the reason it got flagged, if your account is relatively new and you're trying to post a link, the system will assume the post is spam-like and subsequently not allow it to get posted.

Maybe because I am new. But this is what I am trying to post with no links.

Hi all,

I also won my DV lottery this year and preparing my package. I am here on F1 visa and my status is determined by I20. I can file my I-485 before my I20 expires. However it is possible that my I20 expires before my case is hopely approved. Then what are my options? Is it possible to extend my I20 while my I485 is pending so that I have something to rely on in the worst case?

Thanks for the screenshot. Not quite sure what else the system was flagging the post for.

Now, why on earth would you drop out of school and terminate your current status while your AOS application is still pending???? You do not think that is a risky decision? You do realize if your AOS application is denied for any reason, even if the denial is erroneous you automatically have no other status to fall back on? There's the fact that you did early filing (before the FY started as a matter of fact). You do realize you will have no valid status from which to re-file if your FO denies your AOS application due to early filing?

I'm surprised (actually shocked) you intentionally decided to fall out of status considering you are aware of how the 2023 FY ended for some of the DV 2023 AOS filers.

Are you not eligible for OPT based on your F1 status?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. OPT is only when I am graduating. I may not be able to finish my studies this year, hence need to extend my I20 for acadenic reasons. Even if I am graduating, then I still need to apply for OPT I20 with a pending I485. In both cases I need to get a new I20 with new date. Is this possible/ok?
