DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

hi Mom
Is there any way to check whether Chicago lockbox and FO accepts early-filling packages?
Maybe you can tell based on your experience you read so many different stories every day so I guess you might know that.
Thank you in advance!
I submitted my package to Chicago Lockbox and took the option of early-filing. My package arrived on May 3rd (with CN becoming current in June).

Hi, mom

Today, I found that USPS attempted to deliver a mail item addressed to my wife and me, but it required a signature, so we didn’t receive it. Upon checking the tracking history, I noticed it was sent from Seattle, which is the city where my FO is located. I believe there is a high probability that it was sent by my FO. Under what circumstances would a signature be required?

I randomly found that there's a weblink to inform them of my status so I just did it. Didn't expect that they'd do this. I thought I was just an inform.
Before applying for my green card, I inquired at my university, and they informed me that my student status would only be terminated when I actually use the green card or use EAD card from green card application. The person handling this matter at your university is very unprofessional.

your status didn’t actually change though - you were on F1, you wanted to stay on F1, but I guess they assumed you did want to change it seeing as you notified them of something different. If I understood you correctly you’ve asked for them to see if they can retroactively rectify the error - hopefully they can. There was no actual reason to inform them of anything. Not trying to beat up on you but hopefully others read this and understand that the only time you need to notify them is when you do actually already have a change of status. There is no advantage to informing earlier and only potential disadvantages as here.

Seen a good number of these incidents over the years here, this is why mom always recommends not to say anything unless and until status actually changes.

YES. This is what my law firm asked me to inquire about when I was applying for my NIW. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have asked at all.

AFAIK, USCIS will not send a single piece of mail addressed to both you and your spouse. I have no idea as to the mail requiring your signature.

It’s unfortunate you did that as there was nothing to inform them about. Your status did not change. Filing out that form constitutes a formal information and the next step for them was rightly what was done.

Making an inquiry and submitting a form indicating a change in status are two different things. You made an inquiry, OP submitted an official form - that does not make the official handling the situation at their school unprofessional. The official did the right thing in that case. The submitted form was an official record, requiring an action to be made. On the other hand, the person at your school that told you your student status would only be terminated when you actually use your GC could be deemed as not quite knowledgeable themselves. The status is already officially terminated once the GC gets issued.

Tomorrow will be exactly 60 days since I posted my case to the lockbox and had received the NOA receipt but none for biometric appointment.

From my previous correspondence with EMMA and the USCIS 800 number, my case is at the FO in Cincinnati pending a date to be scheduled.

How should I approach this. I do plan to call in tomorrow ( Monday) however on the other hand, I am optimistic that I should receive the biometric appointment this week. Has anyone experienced this and how did the person go about it?

I am a bit worried.

Hi @Sm1smom
I just received the email from USCIS. (Today, Sunday, 06/09/2024).
Similar letter that @msl_8924 received around month ago.
Just for the record: I spoke on this day (05/10/2024) with several (3-4) live agents that day (trying to get information on my case). But I didn’t receive any useful information, only the usual replies - Follow the link..... your case does not exceed the time frame.... and so on....

1. What does this email really mean?
I don't understand. This letter means: your request has been accepted and NOW wait 30 days (that is, until 07/09/2024) - and I will receive a response???
(just a very strange trend - I received this letter a month (30 days) after communicating with a live agent through EMMA. And @msl_8924 also received email 05/30/2024, most likely also after communicating with a live agent (30 days after 04/30/24).

Have you taken a took at some of the previous Timeline spreadsheets to get an idea of how long it took other cases assigned to to ASC to get their bio letters from when the case case was accepted, evidenced by the acceptance text message or NOA, and NOT from the date the package was delivered?

When you contact USCIS, you can ask if your bio has been scheduled or not.

It means nothing in particular. Just a boiler plate response indicating your case is still pending the next step, so don’t bother trying to analyze precisely what it means.

Yes please, I have. There is a DV2021 case that has something similar in terms of the timeline.

Hi Mom, I found posts from @Boston12 about their CPO on April 12th and from @Boston1 about their CPO on May 20th. Since they haven't updated their timeline spreadsheet, could you please update it for future applicants?
Also, regarding my last message about the timeframe after Bio, I can add those columns for the last three years if you let me.
Thanks!

So that should answer your question about if someone else has had the same experience as you or not. It should give you an idea of how long it takes to get the bio notice for your ASC.

Thanks for the updates regarding @Boston 12 and @Boston1 - timeline spreadsheet has been updated.

In order to maintain the integrity of the information submitted in the Timeline Spreadsheet, I’m afraid we cannot modify or allow changes to it once the FY is over and the spreadsheet gets locked down.

Hi,
I got my biometrics date from EMMA on 5/24 but received the bio letter on 06/01 so I think there's nothing to worry about. Just wait for another few days.
Hey, thanks for the reply. My NOA took 9 days to arrive, so it can take some time for the bio notice as well.

I was just confused with the agent opening a service request to reissue the bio notice, as I had only inquired about my bio date and hadn’t even asked about the notice in the first place. I guess I might end up with a duplicate bio notice in the worst scenario.

I’m current in July, but Chicago lockbox accepted my AOS app in mid May.
