DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hello @Sm1smom
I saw that some folks submitted an inquiry for longer than usual processing times after the congressional inquiry and they received interviews shortly after. On June 24, 6 months will have elapsed since my case has been pending. I received feed back from my congressman on 5/24.
Do you recommend I submit an inquiry soon or should I wait? The website says to submit it after it has reached the processing time.

The system did not accepted the inquiry until after 6 months have passed from the moment of submitting. And we used the receipt number of the beneficiary for the inquiry, not the one the congressional inquiry was made on

Hi @Sm1smom
I just received the following email, the inquiry is dated 4/30 this was even before my congressional inquiry I cannot remember anything that day besides maybe chatting with a live agent to get an update on my case status. Should I be concerned?

Hello Mom, Can you please tell if the case status for minor children (after pictures were taken) just show "Case Received" vs. " Biometrics Taken or picture taken". My status shows " Fingerprint Were Taken".

No need to be. Looks like the live agent decided to submit an inquiry on your behalf after your chat, and the person assigned to the submitted inquiry finally got around to responding to it.

It is quite normal to not see any new status update after the bio completion which seems to be the case with your minor.

Hello. While preparing the documents for an interview I realized discrepancy in my father's last name in the I-485 (Part 4, 1.a) and in my Birth Certificate translation. This issue involved a difference in one letter: 'o' and 'y', namely **noi and **nyi. The correct father's last name is placed in the I-485 the same as in his international travel document, it seems the translator messed up russian and Ukrainian and translated the last name by meaning of the language but not as is, by spelling. In any case, I started additionally worrying about this issue. Could you help me understand what should or what can I do about this, please?

1. It is quite normal to not see any further case updates until after the case has been adjudicated.
2. Personally, the only place I recommend for folks to check for status updates is from the official website. All these other third party, unofficial apps are pulling from the same source where you can directly obtain your updates.
3. Compare your timeline with both current and past timelines of other cases from the same FO as yourself, to see if your case is outside of the reported processing time. If it is, then consider initiating a congressional case inquiry assistance.

p.s. do update your timeline by adding your ASC.
Thank you! For #3, there isn't any completed example of cases this year for my FO but I'm checking 2023's. In your opinion, to evaluate whether I'm outside the processing time, which date makes the most sense to look at to compare with my timeline? A few I consider are:
Interview notice received date-NOA letter received date
Interview date-bio date
lockbox date-interview notice received date

Also, I cannot update the 2024 spreadsheet. I made sure I'm signed in with my e-mail but it doesn't let me update.

Consider getting a new translated version to take along with you to your interview.

All the data points are useful reference points. It all depends on what you’re trying to evaluate. In general, for case adjudication, USCIS uses the Lockbox received date in determining if a case is experiencing an unusual long processing time.

As for the timeline issue, I can only think of two reasons for what you’re experiencing: you either haven’t sent in an access request to enable you have an edit access; or you’re trying to use an email address different from the one with the granted access.

Thanks! I was thinking the same for case adjudication.

For the timeline access, I made sure I'm using the same e-mail address. but you are right, I didn't request edit access. Just requested now! Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation about being the main selectee, and for providing some insight into your case. Nonetheless, adding your own timeline will be a very useful data point - it will provide further insight into how your FO has handled similar cases for folks referring to the spreadsheet in the future. I bet you wouldn't have gotten the insight which you got if @rondon hadn't added their own timeline too.
Hi @Sm1smom ,

My husband and I updated our case in the spreadsheet. We hope it helps other people. While I received my card on Thursday (same as @rondon ), my husband's case is still stuck on the fingerprints. Do you have an advice about the best way to initiate a query about my husband's case?
Thank you for your help!

@themarina

If there’s been no update on your husband’s case up till now, it most likely means his background check clearance is still pending, and unfortunately there’s nothing you can do to speed it up. In terms of initiating an inquiry, your husband can follow up by chatting with Emma online, or by calling the USCIS 1800 number if you like, or wait you can just remain patient for a couple more weeks.

Glad to know you’ve added your case update to the timeline spreadsheet. A quick review shows it actually isn’t quite a replicate of @rondon’s per se, so yes your update is indeed additional data points some AOSer could benefit from.

Hi everyone! I recently sent out my package and very nervous but hoping for the best! Thank you mom and everyone in this group. I am writing in case it would be helpful to anyone: My FO is on Florida and I think for the long time the lockbox was Chicago but before sending out the package, I checked the website and it is Dallas now. I sent it to Dallas Lockbox, it is a correct link I used, right?

I also have a quick question about the money order. I have 3 money orders since where I was obtaining it - it had $500 limit. Has anyone had issues attaching 3 money orders? I made a note on a blank page in my package that it is 3 orders that sum up to the correct amount.

I can not attach links for some reason but I used this:

USCIS Lockbox Filing Locations Chart For Certain Non-Family-Based Forms

You used the wrong filing category. DV is under the Family Based Category, and Florida is still under the Chicago Lockbox filing category.

Oh no! :( Has this happened to anyone before? What should I do?
I think they will either return it to you or forward it to the correct lockbox. There's no need to worry excessively; you're definitely not the first person to send documents to the wrong place.

My friend had a similar experience, and he received a receipt after two week delivery. He said they helped forward it to the correct place. However, he mentioned that if it hasn't been delivered yet, you can ask the postal company to intercept the mail and have it returned directly to you.

Yeah it has. Every year, we see one or two AOSers make the same error. Depending on the agent that receives your package, one of three things could happen:
1. They may decide to process the package or,
2. Forward it to the correct Lockbox or,
3. Reject and return the package back to you.
