DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Thank you so much for all the information.
Just one last question, today I went to bank of America and got two Cashier checks for the fees.
They said they do not provide money order.
Does Cashier's check work?

Thank you
It works. You can take a look at the timeline spreadsheet where people have used cashier’s check, money order, personal check and credit card.

Money order from USPS , yes they accept the cashier check

You can initiate all those steps now if you like. Just so you know, DV cases already get expedited, but no harm in asking for an expedite, be prepared to demonstrate your reason falls within one of the official criteria for an expedite request though.
1. What are the reasons that fall within the criteria for an expedite request?
2. Do I need to demonstrate that I fall within those criteria if I want to send a letter to my fo or it only applies to the expedite request through the tier 2 agent?
3. Can I initiate this expedite request through chat with Emma or should I call an agent over the phone?
4. Is there any harm if I initiate all those steps at the same time?

1. Link below:

2. It wouldn’t hurt to demonstrate that in the letter.

3. Try whichever option works.

4. No harm, except the possibility of having wasted an option that could be needed at some other point.

Hello Sm1smom,

By reading the comments here today, I just realized we are close to the global quota. I am now wondering if there is anything I can do to help my case. My online status currently is "On July 10, 2023, we scheduled an interview for your Form I-485. We will mail you an interview notice.", but I haven't received the mail yet. Do you have any recommendation for me? I appreciate your time and help.

You’ve already been scheduled for an interview, you just need to receive the IL and attend your interview as scheduled. In the interim, you can reach out to a customer service rep (via phone or Emma) to see if they’re able to tell you your interview date.

I think i did.can you check it pls? @Sm1smom
Yourself and another AOSer from your FO (filed within a couple of days of each other) are both waiting for the IL, this tells me your case is still on track. Now, I understand the concern about visas running out soon, so you can initiate a congressional case inquiry/assistance at this point if you like.

p.s. add your CN current month to your case data on the Timeline Spreadsheet.

How can I initiate a congressional case,ho can I reach them.what should I do?

Hi, my number just became current in September (2023OC21XX). I also happened to win for 2024 - 2024OC20XX. Given the number of available visas left for 2023, I'm not sure if it's worth going through the process, or waiting until 2024.
1. Is there a risk of paying the full fees ($330 + $1225), and paying for the medical only to not have a visa available this year?
2. If I do the medical now, would that still be ok to use for 2024?
3. If I decide to go ahead and apply in 2023, would you recommend sending in my AOS package asap even without the $330 fee receipt?

1. There’s always that possibility.
2. Medical exams are currently valid for two years from the date the CS signs off on it. As long as the current validity period does not get revised and you’re able to get a new sealed and signed medical report from your CS, it should be okay to use in 2024.
3. I have no recommendation, it’s your call.

Thanks for the recommendation! Can I contact them and ask them about the interview date, or do you think I should provide some kind of reason for my request?

Good Morning mom.
I won DV2023AF53351 with my daughter who is residing in TOGO (West Africa). I'm leaving in USA since 2017 with pending Asylum. My case was current since April 2023. I sent my Package which was received on April 20 and my fingerprint was waived because USCIS was able to use my previous fingerprint. I received a Call-In Letter and went to USCIS Office of Baltimore in July 7th.
As I decided to proceed my adjustment of status alone, I have only paid the DV visa fee for 1 person. When I get to the USCIS Office, The Immigration Officer Ask me the receipt of Payment, he then ask me if I decided to continue the process Alone, I said yes. He ask me to write A statement that I decided to proceed with my case alone, which I did. He then Told Me that he will Ask the USCIS to release my Green Card package that shortly, I will receive another letter. Since then I'm Checking my mail box everyday, It really stressful. I need an advice if there is something I can do. Please please please I need to know what i can do.

Isn’t that what I recommended you do in my previous response? “you can reach out to a customer service rep (via phone or Emma) to see if they’re able to tell you your interview date.”

This has been a helpful thread, along with the spreadsheet. I am on an F-1 visa and also a DV2023 winner and my visa bulletin became available in January (AF19xxx). I filed ds-260 back in May 2022 and have a confirmation from KCC, and AOS on January 31, 2023, and did my biometrics in March 2023. My case is currently stuck at "case updated to show the biometrics stage" for over 5 months now. I also haven't received my 2NL (I saw on the spreadsheet that people with similar f-1 status and very high CN (AF50xxx) got theirs back in November 2022 (which is concerning to me). I contacted USCIS and they said to call them back on September 30 (which doesn't make sense as that is the deadline). I also wrote my senators (and still waiting for a response), I emailed KCC about 2NL and got a generic email response saying my case is handled by USCIS.

Another thing is KCC says they halted receiving documents before the interview (but they also said my case is under USCIS). I am lost on what to do. I only have a short time left before September 30, 2023.

It’s only about a week since you completed your interview. You need to be patient for now, it may actually take a while before you hear back as your IO will need to first request and receive your asylum case file to enable him review before any decision can be made on your DV based AOS application.

In the interim, if you could add your case data to the 2023 Timeline spreadsheet, that would be great as it could shed more light on your situation later on, and other folks in similar situations could also benefit from it.

Add your case data to the Timeline spreadsheet to help us better guide you.

People talking about visas running out soon are making me worry! My package just got delivered 2 days ago and it might take a month to recieve the bio notice. Should I also start a congressional inquiry too asap?
