DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi Mom,
To prepare for the interview, should we bring another certified English translation along with the original documents in addition to the translations we have sent before with our package?
If yes, it is okay to bring a scan of the translations>? or it should be the actual and original translation again?
Thank you
Please take a look at the “Interview Tips” tab/sheet of the AOS Process spreadsheet.

thank you , sorry to ask again, it is just that, in one part, it is mentioned to have only COPIES of translations, and in another part it is mentioned to have PROPER TRANSLATION TO ALL THE DOCUMENTS in the interview. so I am a bit unsure if I understood correctly
since I need to act accordingly, I need to double check with you if the translation copies of birth certificate and diplomas suffices?

Thank you really for helping .

You’re over analyzing. The important thing is for the translated document to be clear, legible, and certified by whoever did the translation. In summary, take both the non-English version and the translated version of the non-English version document (with copies of each) along with you to your interview if you want to be properly prepared.

You should type or tell "Infopass" on Emma or when you call USCIS phone number. Then a real agent should directly join. Otherwise ask to speak with real agent. Then tell your problem and ask to talk to a Tier 2 agent. They will add you to the list.
Hi @eeerdogdu,

What's the ticket you created on USCIS website? And how did you create it?
I tried several times to talk to a live agent through Emma. I typed Infopass and talked to Tier 1 agents asking to be called by a Tier 2 call but they always denied my request. I even called USCIS but I never get through the automated voice assistance system.
What specifically did you say (word for word please if you remember them) to the Tier 1 agent to get you added to the list and receive a call?
I'm also still waiting for bio and interview appointments...

Hi @Sm1smom ,
I have an appointment to visit field office this monday to discuss about my case. I scheduled an appointment through tier 2 officer last week. My case has been pending since April. Do you have any suggestion how to talk to them about my case? My field office is Dallas. I saw an approval today from the field office but no any update on my case.
Hi @Annpa,

Could you please tell me what specifically you say (word for word please if you remember) to the Tier 1 agent to get you to talk to a Tier 2 agent and how you made an appointment at the FO through him? Thanks

Hi @AM7,
I chatted with them about my case status and as usual, they said to write inquiry to vermont service center since they cannot find any information about my case in the system. I told them I already wrote two times but still haven't got any status of my case. It has already been five months and I am really scared since fiscal year is approaching. Is there any way to get an appointment to talk to tier 2 officer? and they scheduled the call back within 30 days. I got a call from tier2 next morning and explained the same thing about how my case is pending for a long time and there is not a single udpate from April. He said he will schedule an appointment with officer and asked to bring all the necessary documents to discuss about the problem.
Trust me, I have been trying to get an appointment with tier 2 officer since june. You are not alone. It was not a one-time thing also. What you can do is, chat with emma and type connect to live chat. It will give you various options, select the last option(connect to live chat). Give your receipt number and they will connect to live agent. Sometimes, it might say service is currently down but type in same thing couple of times more , it will be connected. But sometimes, it may be really down, so you can try later. The live chat will verify your information and you can ask them about your biometric appointment. You can say like, " Can you check if my bio has been scheduled"? If they say no, just tell them if they can schedule an appointment for the call back from tier 2 since fiscal year is approaching and being a diversity visa winner, you need to get your greencard before sep 30,2023.
I would not say this will work because they never schedule but give it a shot. May be luck will favor.

Hi. I have observed that whenever I enter my USCIS account, I do not see any information anymore. Previously, it was showing me my case's latest update and the case history. But now, it only shows my receipt number without any lastest status info or the case history tab.

1. Is this normal or it is just me?

2. And also does it mean anything like my account has been locked?

Thanks

I explained that I am eligible through lottery so I have limited time left. I was saying number of days left for processing and appointments. Then asked if I can talk to Tier 2.
When you call you should say Infopass again and if it does not automatically connect to real agent, ask to talk to real agent. I did these as far as I remember. I got a verification code for my request as to be used when i'm called. I didn't get any call but i got email last week stating that code. An expedite request is submitted and they guarantee the case will be processed in the time that I mentioned. I think they are aware already and will prioritize our cases.

Mine is the same since they updated the webpage. I don’t think it is something that we should worry about.

Hello mum,
This morning I got an appointment to visit my fo next Tuesday because my grandpa just passed away and I need to get a travel document to be able to travel abroad. and in the afternoon, I got an email from the congressmen with my interview letter scheduled on 09/15. I just read that if I used this travel document and if I don't get my greencard by the end of the fiscal year I will lose my student status.
1. Can I show up to the appointment Monday and ask to be interviewed instead of the 09/15 since I already have an appointment?

Sorry to learn of your grandpa's passing, condolence to you and your family. Yes it is true, if you depart from the US and return on AP, you will not be readmitted into your current F1 status, you will be paroled in. And if your AOS application gets denied for some reason (or is not adjudicated by COB 8/30, you will have no fall back status in that case.

Yes, you can explain your situation when you get to the FO on Friday and politely request if they will be willing to interview you on the spot. So go well prepared for the possibility of that happening. Hopefully you get interviewed and approved right away, in which case you can request for an I-551 stamp (temporary GC) which you can safely use to return to the US.

Hi @Sm1smom ,

Today, our case status has been changed to New Card Is Being Produced. Special thanks to mom and all the forum members. Your guidance and provided information were invaluable throughout the whole process. For all other forum members who are waiting for their decision, all the best and good luck!! Don't lose hope.

This is great news. Providence FO came through without an interview! Congratulations.

I refiled my AOS package and was delivered to the Elgin lockbox on August 24. Is there anything I can do to request them to proceed with my application as early as possible?

Hey Mum,
I tried to look on the forum for someone else who successfully got his interview on the spot through the infopass but I didn't find any. Can you share some experiences with me for the previous applicants so I could get an idea about what to except

Not really at this point.

p.s. I noticed neither your first attempt nor the current one is listed on the Timeline spreadsheet. It would be helpful if you could add both to the spreadsheet. Others/future AOSers could benefit from your experience.

None reported for this year. We've had a couple of such reports in the past. There's really nothing major to share. The applicant goes to the FO for case follow-up, and gets asked if they're ready to be interviewed. Fortunately, the applicants went in prepared, got interviewed and subsequently got approved.

Hi Mom, so I had my interview yesterday. The lady was very sweet. And the interview was so quick!!! She basically just confirmed details from I-485 and asked to see my birth certificate and Bachelors degree. Then she said she would do a security check and update my file online. I checked my case status online 15 minutes later and it said card is being produced. I have checked the status multiple times since then as it just doesnt seem real lol. I'll believe it when I have a physical copy of the card in the mail hahaha.

Thank you for your help and this site!

I have a question about my husbands case which was initially rejected for forgetting to sign the application form. His money order was cashed last Thursday 24th August. Do you think his case will happen before September 30th? Especially now since mine was approved? Is he allowed to drop out as an international student yet? He will continue his study but doesnt want to be in the 11 week program that is specifically for international students and charged at a way higher rate than for residents. Fall semester started yesterday and he has one week to un-enrol before he is charged. They dont offer any sort of refund of course for international students. What do you advise?

I would defintely add it on timeline. Right now I am lacking little behind.
