DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi @Britsimon
1. Are you saying that currently there are only 3-5k visas left or that come September that will likely be the case?
2. Which AOS cases have a reserved visa? I was under the impression that visas were not allocated until after the interview.
3. I received my NOA on Jun 20 and have completed the Bio. Looking at the timelines, my FO (Los Angeles) takes on average a minimum of 2 months from NOA to interview, putting my interview - if all goes to plan - mid/late August. Now I'm worried they'll run out of visas but in my case what else can be done other than wait?
Please also keep in mind that your background check might not be completed by the interview date. My interview was on 06/05 and I am still waiting on background check to be compelete. I am so stressful now

Dear Mom,
Regarding filling out form i485, I have some questions and I would appreciate it if you help me with them:
Firstly, My F1 visa was once rejected under category 214b, How should I explain in in the explanation section that it wont cause any sensitivity for the officer , since this is a immigration application.

Second, How much is enough to have in my bank account as for the financial support? I also have my sister as my financial support and she has already filled the form i 134. But I am not sure How much I have to have on my accounts to be on safe side?
Note that I am now a student and have educational loans and I do not work now.

Third is that since I am now a student , for the section that asks if I am part of any organization, should I write my university and my student status in that section? Or is is not needed?

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

1. I’m sorry I have no idea of how to positively spin an INA214b denial due to an immigrant intent which is still tied to the exact reason same reason for which you’re now filing for AOS. The denial is already on your immigration record, you’ll just have to admit and state it as it is, and hope for a positive outcome at the end of the day.
2. A substantial amount - sorry I cannot provide you with a specific figure. Plus it really wouldn’t matter if you have some who meets the applicable poverty threshold level who is providing you with an I-134.
3, Take a look at the pre-filled sample I-485 to get an idea of what is required for that section.

Hello mom and everyone , just wanted to update you on my interview experience yesterday!

Interview for myself was scheduled at 7:30am at the Seattle, WA Field Office and for my husband and three kids from 8:30am to 1:00pm. We arrived at the FO around 7:15am, showed our appointment letters and proceeded through security screening. We then took a seat and waited for about 40 minutes before our assigned IO called out our number and escorted us to her office.

We were interviewed at the same time

The IO was very nice, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. She first congratulated us on the DV selection. We then took the oath. She went through the biographic information on the I-485 and went through a good selection of the yes/no questions at the end of the form. The IO asked me about any original documents (birth certificate, educational certificates, marriage certificate, driver’s license). She asked when my spouse and I got married. She asked about our work. Our interview took nearly 30. As we were finishing up the IO was saying she just needed to review the paperwork before she could approve the case. Overall, a very positive experience.

After refreshing the status update page around 1 hours later, my status changed to " Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed”.

I hope this is a good sign.

Many thanks

Hi Mom,

I think I really screwed up! For some reason I thought I was supposed to send my package to Dallas Lockbox! I guess I thought that becuase I saw someone else ask if that was the correct address and you replied yes.

Now I have seen you put up a link to a table of different addresses, and it seems if you are applying from California or Washington it is supposed to go to a Chicago Lockbox???

Have I ruined my chances?? What should I do?? Please help!

Hi Mom,

I also received an email today from the diversity visa unit. Is this the 2NL? Or is it a bad email. I have already paid the money order and recieved the receipt so I don't understand why they emailed this to me.

It says:

"Thank you for informing us that you plan to apply for adjustment of status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services (USCIS). Before you apply, you should know there are some restrictions on who qualifies for adjustment of status in the United
States. For more information on the requirements and forms needed, please see the USCIS website at
http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/other-ways-get-green-card. As indicated on the USCIS website, you must include
your Diversity Lottery selection notice when you submit your adjustment of status application to USCIS. The selection
notice is available on the Entrant Status Check (ESC) website at dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/
hank you for informing us that you plan to apply for adjustment of status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services (USCIS).
Also, it is important to remember that you cannot apply for adjustment of status until an immigrant visa number is
available. To see if a visa number is available, please refer to your DV case number and check the current Department
of State Visa Bulletin at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin.html. Regardless of when
a visa number becomes available, the adjustment of status process must be completed by September 30, 2023. You
cannot get any benefit from your DV selection after that date.
If USCIS determines you are eligible to adjust status, you must pay a non-refundable diversity-processing fee of
$330.00 per person to the Department of State. This fee covers the cost of running the lottery selection process and is
separate from any fees you will need to pay to USCIS as part of your adjustment application. If you do not pay this fee,
you will lose your diversity visa. If you are not approved for a visa or adjustment of status, this fee cannot be refunded
under any circumstances. Please mail a money order for the diversity-processing fee to the address below

Phew! Okay thank you, it sounded really bad like I had filled out my forms wrong or something.
Thank you for letting me know.

Now I have to figure out if the wrong postal address has ruined things for me :(

Hi, Mom!

I've sent an inquiry via email to DOS (KCCDV@state.gov) to ensure that the DV case was successfully transferred to USCIS.
I was wondering if there is any other way of contacting DOS promptly.

As far as I know, this is the 2NL.

As far as I know, this is the 2NL.
In my view, I think that the true chain of process is that DS260 triggers the AOS based 2NL, and there is an assumption on the State's part that the money order will be sent after the 2NL (hence the instructions for the payment). But a DV payment also triggers this 2NL.

Okay. I didn't fill out the DS260. But I did make the DV payment a few weeks ago. Maybe it was that.

We had our interview at the Denver field office today at 1:00 PM. We arrived a little early but ended up waiting for about an hour. After waiting for an hour, an officer called us into her office. She reviewed our I-485 application and made some corrections. The interview was pretty short, consisting of basic questions. At the end of the interview, she informed us that our case couldn't be approved and that she needed to discuss our case with the legal team to determine if we were eligible for the adjustment of status or not.
Hi,

Did the officer discuss your case with legal team during the interview? Or she let you guys go and said that she needs to discuss case with legal team and reach out after that?

I'd appreciate your response on that.
