DV 2023 All Selectees (Consular Processing - CP)

The cases are not the same but when you read the experiences of those who have been there it seriously freaks out.
Can you tell me a little more about this famous form.. ??
1) Is it for security reasons??
2) or a problem with the ds??
3) Most of those you know who have been there, have they won their visas?? (question to reassure me )
Unfortunately, I'm into reckoning, however I reinstate the same thing, only the CO knows. Many people every year are put on AP and gets cleared. It's still May, so you got time, in case things will take longer.

Hi,
I have a high school diploma (WASSCE) that I sat for as a private candidate when I was in my second year in Secondary School. I went on to pursue my Bachelor's degree with this results obtained without completing High School. So, in essence, I have a high school diploma (WASSCE) as a private candidate and have since acquired a Bachelor's degree and some Graduate studies. Could I be disqualified based on Secondary Education?
Your response is greatly appreciate

Hello,
I have won DV-2023, went to the interview and got approved for the green card. They stamped my passport with visa I-551.
My question is can I enter the US for my first landing and stay there for a week or so then come back to my country without having the physical card then if I want to go back to the US can I enter the border based on the stamp on my passport even if the visa is expired?
Also can the green card be shipped by courier from the US to another country?

I don’t think you’ll be disqualified. Make sure you attend your interview with your Bachelor’s diploma and Grad studies transcripts (in addition to the WASSCE).

1. Yes you can do that. The visa becomes a temporary GC upon endorsement, which happens when you’re admitted as a LPR, it is valid for one year from that point. Be sure to not refer to it as a visa following the endorsement, it is no longer a ‘visa’.
2. Yes it can be mailed by whoever receives it for up (USCIS will not ship it to a non US address). Be aware it will cost you a lot to get a replacement GC if it gets lost in transit. Right now, the cost of a replacement GC is $540 (could go up at any point), and it could take up to a year or longer for it to get issued. So think carefully before arranging for it to be mailed out to you.

I have been selected for 2023DV OC16XX which is really exciting!

I have a question, I need some clarity on -
My partner didn't win unfortunately, we have been together for 6+ years now and wants to join and move together of course. We are fine to get married but unsure when we would need to be married by, Should I wait and get married prior to my initial DS260 form or do I submit and then involve my partner at a later stage?
Also, does it matter if we are getting married in a different country than birth country?

Thanks for your help!! :)
Hi Ingyb,

We got selected and our case number is similar to yours (albeit a year later) - 2024DV OC16xx.

At what month did your case number come up on the visa bulletin board?

I hope your process went smoothly.

Hey guys,

Is it some issues with the CEAC or am I mistaken. The DS 260 for the DV Lottery, shouldn't have a petitioner fields, no?

There's no DV-specific DS-260 form. It applies to all immigrant petitions. A lot of fields do not make sense in DV context.
BTW, answer to that particular question is "SELF"

Does this mean that once I get back to my country, I can have an extra year before going back to the US? Or should I return within 6 months?
Thanks for your reply.

The temporary GC being valid for a year does not automatically mean staying away for the duration of its validity. However if do need to be away for that long to tie up loose ends, you may do so.

Hi I’m a DV 23 winner with cn AF43K assigned to Nairobi which has been performing poorly. As you know we are getting to the critical months of the year.

I believe I joined the Queue of Nairobi in around February. I have emailed KCC requesting them to assign me to Daresalam Embassy because I told them I’m relocating there. KCC has strictly refused that which I knew they would.

Now I want to take matters into my own hand and physically move to Daresalam and then email the Daresalam Embassy a proof of my entry/residence permit and then request them to contact KCC on my behalf. They might refuse to do that or better they might allow it.
Let’s even assume the positive side that they contact KCC on my behalf and my case gets assigned to them. This will mean I will have to obviously join an already existing queue at Daresalam & wait for my case to be reached.

The one thing I’m VERY afraid of is if Nairobi does magic & somehow schedules 1200+ interviews in the last 2 months which is exactly what they did last year for DV 22. This means I will have to be stuck at Daresalam & can’t go back to Nairobi Embassy.
Nairobi has scheduled 991 people(505 cases) & has issued 255 visas so far in DV 23 while Daresalam has scheduled 159 people(78 cases) with only 76 visas issued in DV 23.
I understand that Nairobi is a bigger Embassy hence doing more numbers, but it's doing HORRIBLE.

1. My first question is, is this a Risk worth taking and would you encourage me to just go to Daresalam Embassy & see what they can do for me?

And the other major thing is my Family want me to keep the faith & want me to keep my case at Nairobi. They hugely believe that Nairobi has a pattern of doing incredible numbers towards the end of the year and that they will eventually schedule its selectees assigned to it.

2. Will it be a wise decision to keep the faith and have high hopes that Nairobi will eventually prevail?

3. What would you do if you were in my situation?

Need help @Sm1smom @Xarthisius

I want to do everything I can to get this Visa before September 30, 2023.

I'm sorry to learn you've been caught in the action or inaction of the Nairobi embassy as a DV selectee. Also, I'm sorry I'm unable to give you the assurance or reassurance you're seeking. My risk tolerance level is not the same as yours (we all have different risk tolerance level). What may be at stake for you going one way or the other may not necessarily be what could be at stake for me should whatever decision that gets taken backfire. This is your case, you have to make a decision you can live with at the end of the day, I therefore I'm unable to help you make that decision.

Hey everyone,

my visa was approved and I already got the package from the embassy.

Next week I will travel to America for the activation part.

I will only stay for one week and will be back.
In August I will be on vacation in the US for 3 weeks and my plan is to move to the US next year in February/march.

So do you think I would get in trouble as LPR, because I plan moving to the US by march 2024?

Hello. If my case number is below the cut-off number for July interviews, does that assure me I will be interviewed?

You should be okay, however, bear in mind you can always be asked about your intention of staying permanently in the US at any point

Being scheduled for an interview will largely depend on your embassy's backlog (if they're interviewing DV selectees).

My embassy is Lima, Peru. I have checked the 2023 CEAC Data page and I think Lima is at a good rate... but I am not sure haha. The cut-off number for June was SA2740 and the highest case number scheduled for an interview in Lima is SA273X. Does that mean I'm good? My case number is SA283X and the new cut-off number is SA2900, and I believe no 2NLs have been sent for July yet (as it seems when checking the CEAC page).

I cannot provide you with the re-assurance you're seeking. You'll just have to wait and see is all I can say at this point.
