DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

I have the same question and still not sure If I have to renew the passport if I do the AOS.
Your passport related question is technically speaking not quite the same as @sunshine21's question. Yours also involves your asylum situation, right? And I believe Susie already provided you with the right guidance as related to your specific situation.

You are right. I will renew it once I get my interview. Will wait till that time because my case# would be current probably next year April-June so meanwhile, I won't renew the passport. Apart from the asylum case, I have to have a valid passport not an expired one for the DV interview right?

Considering you currently do not have a valid status to adjust from, you're assuming the DV based AOS application will automatically be approved once they schedule your interview. Apart from the asylum case, you have to have a "valid status" to adjust from. Like I stated earlier, Susie's response to your question was spot on - you honestly don't want to do anything to jeopardize the pending asylum application.

I am just assuming based on the fact that I haven't had any unlawful status (overstay), I might be eligible for AOS. I will keep my asylum case but there are many questions that come up off of my head like what would happen if I get the asylum interview and the decision would be still pending when I go to the DV interview session. Appreciate you and Susie for replying to my questions.

AOS requires being in a valid status (you can’t “adjust” if you have no valid status to adjust from), not just not having accrued an illegal presence.

There is a distinction between unlawful stay and overstay. One can have overstay that does not count towards unlawful presence (this seems to be your case), but it is still overstay and as such is not valid status - and you cannot adjust status to DV (or certain other AOS types) from such a position.

Hello everyone:
I asked you @Sm1smom before about my USC daughter who was included on the DV lottery application, you answered my question indeed. But just want to confirm that I don't need to pay any fees neither the $330 nor the AOS fees for her, correct?

You previously asked me? Did you use a different account/username because I don’t recollect you asking me about your USC daughter nor do I see my supposedly response to you.

Yes, if you check your inbox :) same account
Thanks for the reminder, I’ve taken a look at what I wrote (which is what I wanted to do when I asked for the reminder). The response I provided back then is still the same, pretty much accurate.

You might as well go ahead and renew now (if your home country allows you to renew the passport more than 6 months before expiration date).
Thank you very much Mom. ! I have another question. I have decided to fill DS-260 and in the Previous U.S. travel information section, it asks visa classification in “Have you ever been issued a U.S. visa? “ section. Dose this mean what visa type mention in my passport or what visa type I am right now? Because my visa stamp in my passport has a different visa status than what I have right now. Thank you very much for your kind help.

Type of visa issued by the embassy on the passport

Do we need to show proof financial support for AOS as a dv-lottery winner, or is that requirement for other AOS cases?

If yes, how much support is needed (estimate)?

There’s an expectation for all applicants to be able to demonstrate they’re unlikely to become a public, having the applicable financial documents ahead of time to meet this is recommended.

Hello everyone I’m a DV2022 winner AS16xxx.
Thanks for the spreadsheet, very useful.

I recently extended my L1 visa and its valid until June 2023 and planning to go with the AOS.
My question is about my family, their I-94 expires this month and we filed an extension for their L2 visas but the processing time is about 10-13 months! If they stay in the US until the extension is approved will that count as unlawful or overstay and affect our AOS?

And one more question, A friend of mine who is a previous DV winner told me that for high case numbers like mine CP would be a better option the AOS is that true? I read the spreadsheet but couldn’t find any info on that.
