DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Just wanted to express my gratitude to @Sm1smom and other members who assisted DV winners in obtaining green cards. My permanent resident card arrived today. I also attached my interview experience at USCIS-St. Louis (Missouri):

The officer was kind and helpful. She went through each of the three steps of the interview step by step after first explaining them.
Before everything, the oath and fingerprint/photo.

First, review the I-485 form by asking for the name, date of birth, and marriage date.
Second, answer all of the form's YES or NO questions.
Third: explain the correction in the I-485 form, acknowledge the number of attachments to the 485 form, and then ask for signature.

Then she said, "Your application is approved.":D
At the end, she said that your approval notice will be mailed to you next week, and within 1 to 3 months, the actual card will be delivered to you.

However, the facts were like this:
On the same day, in the afternoon, I got a new status on the Case Tracker app for "new card is produced."
The case tracker changed the status to "new card is mailed to you" one day following the interview.
And finally, today (five days after the interview), the USPS delivered the card to my house. (TIP: Go to your USPS account, find the future delivery, and you can see the items like USCIS letters and packages on shipping and find the tracking number.)

The officer was so nice and asked us whether we planned to leave the U.S. now, and we said maybe!
She said, since shipping the card can take a while, I can put a stamp on your passport so you can come inside the U.S. without the physical card. Although you usually need to schedule another appointment for that, she kindly agreed when we asked her to. However, we received the card in just five days. The stamp might help some DV winners who need to leave the country right after the interview.

I wish the DV winners stress-free success.

Best,

Hello Mom, today I got the RFE notice for Medical from my FO. I did not submit the medical previously thinking that i could directly bring that to the interview.
I was wondering, am I not gonna get the interview notice untill they have my medical in their hand
or this is normal ?

One of two things, either they’re waiting to receive the medical report before scheduling the interview, or they’re planning on approving the application without an interview but they’re waiting for the medical report in order to do so. Either way, you need to jump on it and send in the medical report ASAP!

Ok thank you!

Mom, Upadate on my friend's case; (# filed without being cureent and interviewed on feb ,Dallas FO)
they approved him a AP and work permit (may) but GC still pending, recently talked to tier 2 rep , they say still under estimated timeframe.
what could be the possible reason, why they are not responding to that?
since I got the medical RFE too , little worried.

I did not send my medical when filing. Should I go ahead and do it and keep it in hand or keep waiting for USCIS to ask for it.

You don't want the signature to expire by your interview date, in case you don't receive an RFE. Signature is valid for 60 days. So you are safe to schedule an appointment anytime after Aug 1. That way, you will have the medicals in hand and also it won't expire by the end of the September. The only downside is if you need it before that, which depending on the availability of the doctors in your area, may be a lost cause anyways.

Maybe because the IO is waiting till the end of the FY before denying the case? I don't know. You friend can either remain patient or initiate a congressional case inquiry at this point.

Is your case similar to your friend's case? If I recall correctly, your friend filed before their case became current in addition to using an expired form for their medical report, attended their interview and was required to submit a new medical report. Why are you worried about yours?

What was your plan when you made the conscious decision to send in your AOS package without the medical report?

USCIS is temporarily waiving the requirement that the civil surgeon sign Form I-693, no more than 60 days before filing until Sept. 30, 2022 (due to COVID-19 pandemic), OP can go ahead and complete the medical exam now if they wish, even if they've not be scheduled for an interview nor receive a RFE for it.

Hi all, it seems like my application is prodding along but in the meantime I had a question on a change of address that happened last year. I applied for the DV lottery back in 2020 when I was living at my old address so this is the address KCC has on record whereas my I-485 has my current address. Do I need to file anything with the KCC or will all correspondence arrive at the address listed on my I-485?

Thanks!

Correspondence will be sent to the I-485 listed address.
