Atlanta progress

Just wanted to share some news from AILA;

Apparently Atlanta office has assigned a very high priority to finish
around 1500-2000 pre-1999 N400 applications that have been forwarded from TSC. ( Meanwhile a lot of \'99 and 2000 applicants have been
adjucated --- interesting !!!!! )

Additionally, 3 officers are now handling N400 cases half day.
Earlier until September only one officer was handling N400 cases.

Most likely 6 officers will work on N400 cases starting January or February of 2002.

Definitely these are sighns of improvement.

However, it\'s almost unbelieveable that while most cities are processing N400 cases within 6/9 months, there are people in Atlanta who have been waiting 2 years, 3 years etc.

Unless everyone writes a letter to Senator, Congressman and
to Atlanta Journal, there is no chance that the situation will
change in Atlanta. Under persistent request from future citizens, the
office might put N400 applications on a high priority list and
getting an interview in Atlanta in 6/9 months may be possible.

The next idea will be to request a meeting with Atlanta office
for a discussion and question/answer session. This will ensure
a cordial relation betwwen future citizens with the office which might
decide to put N400 cases on a high priority list if they see so
many people have been waiting for a long time.

Adjucated??

What does that mean? I can look it up in Websters, but I\'m sure even Webster doesn\'t have the latest definition as it pertains to the INS. Is this a good thing or bad?

My fiance is under the impression that interview letters will be going out sometime in Dec. This info comes from a co-worker whose wife is still awaiting her citizenship. He got his in Oct and her PD is the same as my fiance\'s (Dec 14-2000). Just wondering.

At last some information

At last we have some information from the AILA meeting with INS. 6 officers have been assigned from October to process N400 cases. They are currently working on old and reinterview cases. From January they are going to more fully schedule interviews. Folks, it seems like the light at the end of the tunnel. At the same time, knowing INS we cannot afford to get our hopes too high either. Time will tell.

How do I know if my case has been transferred?

Hi,

I submitted a change of address from California to Georgia early this year. Now, how can I be sure that my application has actually been moved to the Atlanta office (other than going to an attorney -- I don\'t have one).

Thanks in advance!!

Where are willyc, Zeemboomba, Victor Hu

There is no activity in this forum from very long time. Where are willyc, Zeemboomba, Victor Hu? We need you. Do you guys have any further information or suggestions?

Received interview letter a few days ago

My husband sent in his N400 in Oct 2000 and we just received the interview letter a few days ago. The interview is next month.

Atlanta does not have enough staff compared to that in NY or CA

I did some searches on it and found that Atlanta INS office
has fewer staff for processing compared to that in NY or CA.
Processing time depends on the numbers of Immigrants applicants
within that INS district office. In some states like Michighan,
Iowa, Ohio, it takes almost 6 months for entire processing because
either there are fewer immigrants or there are several INS office
located in those states. I hope it will answer your questions.
I am going to apply for the citizenship soon, and that\'s why
I have been searching on it to make which state takes least time for
processing. Do you know which state has least immigrants
or which state takes least time? Please let me know. Thanks.

No Title

Well, on last Friday, I went to Atlanta INS office for some other
information and I was advised by the information center representative
that they are still processing the applicants who applied in
1999. Per her, Atlanta INS office is not processing any application
that was submitted after 1999. That\'s why I am interested to know
what state has least immigrants so I can get mine done without waiting for ever. Please let me know if you know any state that takes
least processing time. Thanks.

I am back

Thank you for asking TK1. My wife lives in Europe and so I travel often to be there. I got back just last week. Now, you all understand how important it is for me to get the citizenship fast.

Best Wishes

Our best wishes for his interview. It really is good news. What date is the interview? Also, if you call the number at the TSC what does the message say? When I call TSC the message says that they have received the application and it takes from 5xx to 7xx days.

Fingerprint Validity

Does anybody know for how long the fingerprint is valid? I heard that if someone don’t get interview with in certain time than he/she have to reappear for fingerprint.

Thanks.

Fingerprint

If an interview is scheduled after the fingerprint expires, interview
will continue and the applicant will be asked to get refingerprinted.

However, if the fingerprint expires, then the computer may not
schedule interview until the fresh fingerprint is available.

Following are the options:
Visit Atlanta office 1 month before the fingerprint expires requesting
them to help for scheduling an interview.

Once the fingerprint expires, if the interview has not been scheduled,
again visit office or write letters to TSC or Atlanta office or
call the 1-800-375-5283 ( INS national helpline ) requesting for
status. Likelihood is that one of these numerous efforts will
immediately prompt the computer to realize that this fingerprint has
expired and a refingerprint notice needs to be mailed. Atleast, this
way one will get the refingerprint notice almost immediately and the
N400 application will become active as soon as the refingerprinting is done. I think I have seen on the newsgroup that people didn\'t
receive their refingerprint notice soon enough and the computer
couldn\'t schedule interviews for expired fingerprint cases. Some of these people I think requested congressinal/senators helps following which they received refingerprint notice following which they received interview letters. Again I am not sure how the overall scheduling process works, however, based on what is happening, the best we can do is to continue to follow up.
