The law states very clearly. For asylees it's 5yrs from your GC issue date. May be he joined the military and applied under Military N-400?

To my knowledge it's actually more than that... you can also lose your naturilized citizenship if you're an unregistered agent of a foreign government. And also...if you serve in a foreign government, foreign military...and other things indicated in the INA.

Sounds like it's a military N-400 case. Most military N-400 applicants get their FP notice in 2 weeks and Interview letter in 2 months. Also, San Antonio is a predominantly military city. Just my 2 cents

5yrs from your GC issue date. Ours (asylee GCs) is backdated one year, therefore it's 4yrs for us.

if it says just "resident alien" then you would choose that one. But asylees are not Permenant residents.
