congratulations on your marriage and your soon-to-be-baby!
it sounds like you've done everything right.
make sure that, if you came here as a visitor, you NEVER state that your intention when you entered the country was to get married. like i said, you've done nothing wrong, but just make...
hello,
sorry if these q's are redundant :(
i searched threads but couldn't seem to find the answer to my specific questions:
1) for the BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND PASSPORTS, are color photocopies acceptable (not notarized), or do we need "certified copies" and if so, what constitutes a...
Hello!
I am currently applying for a green card through marriage to a USC, to the VSC.
I want to get an Advance Parole card, to take some classes in Canada (home country) and visit family, etc.
Can anyone tell me what the processing times are at VSC for the I-131?
Can anyone offer an...
Please do yourself a favor and, if you enter the US as a visitor, wait at least 60 days to get married. If you enter as a visitor and get married within 60-days, they may consider it "false intent, ie fraudulent entry" and make you file a waiver (a VERY messy and expensive process). Save...
Hi Bella Blues,
Did you also submit I-765 (Appl. for Employment Auth.)and I-131 (Advance Parole)?
Also, just curious for my own knowledge, did you make color photocopies of the passports (all pages?) and birth certificates, or did you get "official copies" from Gov't agencies?
Thanks!
jnj, i love your story...gives me so much hope! i am precisely the same situation as you (minus the forms submission), and hope everything goes smoothly.
best of luck to you and your wife.
Thank you, TheRealCanadian, you have been so helpful
We are seriously considering going through the process in the US (despite the intent issue) because we are a legitimate couple and I had a return ticket booked when I came as a visitor. I know they may want to see proof of intent to return...
Need help filing...Spouse of US Citizen
Hello :)
Since you all filed recently, I am hoping you can help me!
I will be filing (VSC) as a spouse to a US Citizen, and have a few questions:
1) What forms do I need, and do I send them all at once?
2) I definitely want to file for advance...
You may be able to find an attorney that will overlook your prepared paperwork for a nominal fee, to see that you have not made any errors. We found a few attorneys that quoted $150 to overlook all of the papers...hopefully it will be worth it!
Hello everyone,
Entered the US on Dec 30, 2006 and married on Feb 16, 2007.
At the time, my husband and I had no idea that this could be seen as fraudulent entry, because I didn't tell them at the border that I was planning to marry.
Anyone dealt with this kind of situation before...
It is true that most immigration attorneys i've spoken to have basically NO CLUE about Immigration Law for Canadians coming over....probably why they're sending me all over the place!
Does anyone have any experience with marrying within 60-days of entry? We are terrified of being accused of...
wow, thanks everyone...
i guess there is a difference of opinion as to whether or not it could trigger a bar...in really see both arguments. I wish my lawyers could make up their minds!
I am wondering if, perhaps, there is a grace period for canadians? I mean, could it really trigger a...
Hello,
I am a Canadian Citizen, recently married to my US Citizen husband and currently in the US. We have not filed anything because we have to weigh whether or not we should file my immigration papers here or in Canada.
We have two things working against us:
1) I overstayed in 2006...
does it really take that long???
I am a Canadian currently in the US, married to a US Citizen.
Because of a potentially sticky-situation, we have been advised to consider that I go back to Canada and await visa processing from there.
We haven't filed any forms yet, until we decide whether I...
