Asylee N-400 Interview Experiences and 2009 Tracker

I do not understand the distinction between the asylum office and the IJ in this context. If the naturalization examiner has issues with the asylum, he or she will ask questions regardless of who granted you asylum!

Asylee N-400 Interview Experiences and 2009 Tracker

Tell him or her exactly what you did with the missing RTD. Bring all the ones you have. If the officer asks for them (chances are he will), show them to him. If he does not ask for it, do nothing.

relief from removal, exclusion or deportation?

It is technical: If asylum was granted by the Asylum Office, then the answer is no. If granted by IJ or the BIA, then yes. However, this is not something that you should worry about. If the interviewing officer tells you to change the answer, just do it and move on.

    Deravitive asylum with 2-years requirments

It will be waived because the federal code of regulation stipulates that it is waived. In other words, it is the law.

are you talking about college or above? Yes you can study but you will not get government financial aid. If you are talking about elementary or secondary education, every child is entitled to attend for free.

New York City - N-400 Timeline - Naturalization Experiences

Can you give a little history? How did you come to the United States (that is, who sponsored you for your green card?)? Did you get your citizenship when your parents or parent naturalized? Or did you get one by claiming derivative citizenship?

    Fulbright Asylum

It is up to you. My experience is that the people who run Fulbright (and similar scholarship programs) are not happy to know that scholarship holders want to apply for asylum. This damages the program's relationship with your country of origin and makes its future work harder. You...

    Concerns about using Re-entry Permit

Your daughter should avoid doing this until she obtains United States citizenship. Opening a can of worms with USCIS is not worth it.

    Passport for travel

This post is doubly incorrect. First, one major purpose of the reentry permit is as a passport substitute. The RP has blank pages for foreign countries to place visas on them. I used my RP as a passport for a few years. Second, technically you do not need a passport to reenter the US...

US permanent resident returning home to the US after two years on a student visa

no offense but you are saying that you have been paying for school for two years in Canada but have not had the money for home visits? that sounds odd to me.

    expired green card expired passport

Depending on the Vietnamese bureaucracy getting a passport renewed before September 7 may not be realistic either. At least for a reentry permit application, if you submit proof of the urgency of your request they have been able to expediate your application. They have issued RPs in two or...

    expired green card expired passport

How long does it take to renew your Vietnamese passport? Another thing you could do is to apply for a reentry permit by filing an I-131 with USCIS. The reentry permit can be used as a passport and you do not even need to get a temporary LPR stamp. You can use the RP to travel. You should...

difference between green card and us citzenship

Social Security is the moral and political debt owed by the United States government. There will be changes on the edges (raising retirement ages etc) but one way or the other the obligations will be honored.

difference between green card and us citzenship

It would be a somewhat tough constitutional question. The federal government has had more leeway than states to discriminate on the basis of alienage. But the outer limits of that power has not been well-defined. But just in terms of politics, I do not see how something like this can get...
