    I am sorry that this happened. The airline was at fault. The RTD is a legitimate document issued by the United States Government. I would firmly but politely ask airline management for compensation. They should give you a voucher for your next trip. You deserve it.

    just go and do it. Some sort of national ID card might be on the horizon. It is in your interest to have your SSA records updated. You will get a new SS card but the number stays the same. The SSA office is also located in 26 Federal Plaza.

    consideration? Well, the consideration is that the spouse and the children are allowed to enter the USA as asylees without regard to a quota system. That is pretty darn good consideration.

    You can go abroad at any time. there is no one year rule. Just remember you cannot abandon your intent to have your permanent home in the United States. Also, if you are gone for a long period of time it can delay your ability to get citizenship.
