    Indian Consulate Screwed Up Again!!!

Can you believe this. I had sent my PP renewal app and my infant son's PP for Indian visa together with Express mail return payment and they sent only my app via Express Mail and his by certified mail. I received my PP back, but the post office can't find his certified letter. Sure the post...

    How to Reschedule FP

Have you tried to do an early walk-in FP? I know Philly allows it, I did an early FP in Nov. Give that a shot, if that works, you might not have to reschedule.... :)

    Early FP in Philly

I know a lot of ppl including me who did early FP, and I got my 485 approval 2 weeks after the FP, so there's no harm in doing an early FP. I went on a saturday around 1PM, that place was relatively empty, I have heard Wednesday mornings are good too. If they ask why you are early, just tell...

Explain Layoff / Bench and out of status?

Not sure if there's a legal USCIS term for bench. Bench is a consulting term when you are not on project, it does not mean you are not paid. If you are on H1, you must get paid from day 1, if your employer is not paying you, it's illegal, you can report that to USCIS and they will black list...

    Passport Expiring

I am not sure about the "I-94 like" form, but I got my stamp done from Philly and my passport was valid for 6 months at the time of stamping and the officer stamped the I-551 for only 6 months, he said, the actual cards will arrive by then. They usually stamp the passport for one year otherwise...

urgent question: should I quit or allow to get laid off

I just read this thread from Rajiv, thought you might be interested in that. He recommends being laid off is better than quitting, that way your intent won't be questioned. http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=154533

    EAD/AP Renew - Paper base

It's a catch 22 thing, if you apply early you will loose some months, as they don't approve back to back, the approval is valid one year from the date they approve. If you want too long, you might not get the EAD in time, your best bet is to check the latest processing times for EAD/AP and apply...

    GC Stamping

It's normal, don't worry! They also take all previous EADs, APs etc.

To carry the green card or not?

DUI eh ETA!! Good to see you back after a long time!! If it helps, I don't plan to carry the physical cards, I am too scared to loose it. I might make color copies of that and carry it, they can verify the A# if they want. As you mentioned what's the worst that can happen, they might detain...

urgent question: should I quit or allow to get laid off

I don't think you are that far away from getting your approval, you are just a few weeks behind me. I would recommend laying under the radar and continue there, but remember you need to continue for another 6 months - 1 year to be safe (there are conflicting opinions on this anyway). If you...

I notice some of you with 2004 Receipt/Notice Dates are updating the tracker, or posting here, if your RD/ND is 2004, you should be posting in the 2004 tracker thread and not this one, this one is for 2005 RD/NDs only.

Education Abroad and I-140s ---Memo from INS?

If you read through the first few posts, you can see people advising against EB2 if you have 3 year and combination degrees, you are better off filing EB3. Just my opinion.

    2003 Consolidated Tracker ONLY (140/EAD/AP/FP/485)

We all are with you with the frustration. See the positive side of things, GC is not the lifeline. If 5-10 yrs down the line jobs move to India, hopefully you will be Citizen by then and with dual citizenship, you can choose where you wanna stay, it's a win-win situation!! joyd
