I got my 140 cleared couple of months back.My 485 also was filed with my 140 application.Unfortunately company didn't applied for my EAD/AP.

I am atleast interested in getting my EAD done so I can be safe when I complete 6 months from date of my 485 application.

Can I apply EAD on my own?
What is the process?
Do I have to involve my compay in the process?

Yes, you can and it is pretty easy.

Just apply on-line or download the form and send it by mail with
fee and photos.

No, you don't have to invove your company at all.

Guys, I want to make doubly sure that fresh EAD can be applied without company's involvement.I know that one can do EAD renewal on their own.
