Working remotely for Indian employer using Green Card EAD

I’m considering moving back from USA to India. I’m interviewing with companies in India and they want me to start working remotely from the USA before I physically move to India in a few months. I’m trying to figure out if I can legally work for an Indian company while I’m still in the US.

I’m currently on H1B. I 485 is pending and I have an approved Green Card EAD/AP. I’m aware that the H1B is tied to my current company. But I’m wondering if the Green Card EAD will allow me to work for an Indian employer from the US.

Working outside of H1b will make you lose H1b status, but you can stay in the US on a pending I-485 and you are authorized to work since you have an EAD. So there's no problem as far as US immigration is concerned, as long as your I-485 is not denied. However, you will be subject to US federal and state taxes on that income, and the company needs to be able to deduct and pay the relevant income and payroll taxes.
