Hi,

Can I withdraw my citizenship application after the interview but before the oath ceremony?

Another question: how many times can I postpone theoath ceremony?

Please do not ask comment why.

Ed

If you fail to show up at the oath ceremony they will most likely send you a notice indicating that you were a no show and offer you a chance to reschedule. If you're thinking at this point to withdraw your application you can send back the oath letter with an explanation that you request to withdraw your application.

You can withdraw at any time. Just write to the DO and request to withdraw your application. No-show does much the same, but gives you slightly more hassle down the road if you want to reapply in the future.

Why shouldn't we ask why? After all its human nature to be curious, and basically by saying "don't ask" you are saying "I want information, but am not prepared to contribute anything in return".

That was my own reason thinking of it.

To be honest, at some point I was thinking about doing this myself, and the reason was I was stuck in namecheck, and thought if I reapply and take a new turn, it might be faster....
now I am done with namecheck (presuming what I was told is true)
so being waiting for supervisor review hopefully it should take less than another 3 years to hear any further comments from USCIS
good luck everyone.

Yes, as it is a separate application.

I knew they do that. But I wonder if it takes the same time if you were stuck in for a long time for your GC. Or vise versa (short time for GC but long for citezenship, which I think is more likely). Could people who have this experience please share??

may be the whole thing with backlog was a USCIS scheme to make people apply with new fee, then see that new cases get faster processing, withdraw and apply again?
