I was divorced in my home country in March 2007, but when I applied F1 student visa at the US embassy in July 2007, I filled the forms as a married woman and filled out my ex’s name. I came to US in August 2007 and married my husband 3 months later (my husband was a green card holder at that time but he soon got his citizenship). During my recent green card interview, the officer said I was not being honest at 2007 visa application because my divorce certificate said I was divorced in March 2007 but my July visa application still said I was married (he has a copy of my initial visa application summary). He took my I-94 card. He said he believed in the marriage so he will approve I-130, but for I-485, he will request materials from Dept of State, he will investigate and get back to us in 3 months or so.
My questions are:
1. will he deny my I-485 ? Should I get a lawyer ? what should I do ?
2. Should he take my I-94 card at all?
your helps are very much appreciated.
