I was personally having high hopes of the Immigration Reform coming back to life after the elections especially if the Democrats came to power. However, with the current situation with the economy, do you guys think it will come to life?

If you have an approved asylum case, how would this matter to you at all?

With the current economy and millions of unemployed? No way. That will sadly have to wait for a decade. Even then democrats seem to favor family-based immigration, not labor based. Unions hate immigrants, unfortunately.

If my memory serves me right, one of the proposition was to reduce the wait time from 5yrs to 3yrs for citizenship after you get your GC. Thay means we wouls have to wait 2yrs after we get our GC.

Immigration reform does not mean Amnesty, it means fix the dysfunctional and broken agency, the immigration problems that are currently the function of a failed bureaucracy carrying out by misguided policies mismanagement that reflect neither the country's values nor its needs.
Wait is too long for general immigration application.... cut it off.
Green card holder be able to petition for relatives.
All immigration petition be approved within 6 months.
Stop the massive deportation.
Easy resettlement for refugees and asylees.
Eliminate material support bar, the meaning is too broad and stretchy.
the list is longer, the U.S immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed, that's the immigration reform.

immigration reform is dead

the majority of the american people are against it,

republicans,liberals,democrats, all against it

May be... but senator Mccain and president-elect Obama today talked about reviving the failed immigration reform. It is on agenda, after all. :)

this is one of the main reason Mccain lost the election, his support for amnesty and running as a liberal
