Weird experience at DMV

I met with the director today. The rep who I sent me away with state troopers was there too. I had print outs from their website and all the documents I had last time. The director and the rep acknowledged that their website does not make it clear but I-94s are considered by this MVA out-of-country documents (!!!!) But in my case 'they realize that I have plenty of other documents from the list and they will gladly accept them all and give me my MD driver's license'. They were so desperate to cover their a...ses, I was really amused. I told them that the reason I came was not to get the MD DL which I know I am entitled to. I came for an apology and reassurance that this agency will review their training and customer service standards. I also wanted to know who is behind the decision of making an I-94 form an "out of country document". I noted that this is obviously a document issued by Federal Gt and by not accepting it as a primary document, they violating the fedral regulations.

They still didn't apologize. The director was getting very defensive because he could not give me answers to any of the above questions. I noticed that the rep was aiding him in explaining the documents I brought. He kept telling me that I was being aggresive and there must have been a reason why the rep came back with sate troopers. I said "Could it be the reason that I simply exercised my rights? Or may be she realized she had made a mistake? Or may be I was forceful and refused to give up and this establishment is not used to it?' He kept rambling on that she was following the procedures. I got up and said they were wasting my time and they would hear from me. Got their business cards and left with my head held high!

Good job 14ksusha!

You are brave 14ksusha. What are you going to do now?

I am writing a letter to the Secretary of Transportation and will cc it to the Governor and the director of MVA. Trust me, it will be out tomorrow by certified mail.

Excellent! Good for you.

Also please send a copy to:

U.S. Department of Justice
Civil Rights Division
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices, 1425
Washington, D.C. 20530

They probably wont do anything, but the MVA director will soil his pants.

14K,

Did you get your DL finally? i am just curious i thought your goal was to get a DL.

Initally it was. Now my goal is to get the director and his cronies. Hey, I am happy driving on DC license! My husband's friend is the director of another MVA in MD, it's just not in my area, far away, but had I known the local MVA is so screwed up, I would have gone the our friend's one first. So I will go there eventually and get it.
