Waiting Asylum decision

I implore you get an attorney, the current environment needs a back up , pls don’t rely on your understanding and forums , I have seen some really crazy cases, wish you guys all the best . As a student of economics, there’s a basic elementary concept known as opportunity cost , think on that !!!!

I recently also interviewed at Tustin office and am supposed to pick up the decision tomorrow on 17th. However, I got a call yesterday saying my decision will be mailed and I don’t need to come pick it up. Do you also get notified to change the delivery method to mail?

Also, I got the call from DC instead of Tustin office. Does anyone experience this before? Does this mean my case is under headquarter review?
It’s very hard to tell if your case is with under HQ review without knowing your case but there might be a good chance that might have happened but even if it’s with HQ for a review and considering they sent it within 2 weeks there is a high chance you will get your decision within few months in that scenario but it’s absolutely okay to be told that

I would not be surprised if they sent my case to HQ given its content. My case moves very fast at Tustin office. It arrived at HQ (assuming it is indeed now under HQ review) after a week.

Though I was not expecting a call from DC directly. I searched the number and it is indeed a landline within Asylum Division HQ at DC. I don’t think HQ has the bandwidth to review refer cases, so I hope at the end of this road there is a positive result waiting for me.

They mainly review complex cases and it shouldn’t take more than a month given recent trends and assuming less cases go to the HQ, but if you have submitted all the evidences and testified in a great way then they won’t have a reason to deny you unless it’s for security checks ofc!

People mean well and almsot everyone on this forum feels like family, we have been together for years and shared so much pain, disappointment but under this goverment, its better to look foolish for a few thousand dollars.
I COPIED THIS FROM REDDITT- ." All the people telling you you don't need an attorney are so misguided. It's like travel insurance. You don't need it until you need it and then you wish you REALLY had it. It's not about how easy the case is. It's about what could go wrong with factors outside the case itself."
If your case is straightforward and you can read and write English, why do you need a lawyer to complete the form I-485? You're gonna provide the lawyer with all the information needed to complete the form anyway, so why not just do it yourself? In my opinion, it’s pointless, and you’re just incurring unnecessary expenses paying a lawyer.

I’ve never had an immigration lawyer or paralegal. I completed and filed my asylum application myself, as well as my EADs. I attended my asylum interview on my own. I also filed for my green card and WOM by myself. When the time comes, I will file for naturalization on my own as well.

That’s awesome for you, 6m applicants with backlogs respectfully disagree. To imagine you can navigate the labyrinths of Uscis yourself because your case went smoothly is just theatrical.

Those backlogs has nothing to do whether someone has an immigration lawyer or not, so I don't know exactly what your point is.

If you have a complex immigration or criminal history, then yes, hire an immigration lawyer. But if you don’t have any of that and you're simply filling out form I-485 or I-765, what exactly do you need a lawyer for? Is the lawyer going to tell you your name, your date of birth, or your country of birth? USCIS immigration forms are straightforward and not difficult to complete. Y'all be paying lawyers thousands of dollars to write your name on a piece of paper.

Your assumptions are so ridiculous I spat out my drink , so millions of people either have complex or criminal issues , have some modesty please and be grateful , many of us don’t have even a speed ticket and no complexities yet we waited years n needed legal help to succeed. Please lawyers of which I am proud to have family members are hardworking brilliant people ! You don’t spend 6/7 years in college , bar etc for fun .

What assumptions did I make? Everything thing I said is a fact. Having an immigration lawyer doesn't speed up your immigration process, and not having one doesn't slow it down.

Who said the millions of cases in backlog are because the applicants have complex or criminal histories? If your case has been pending for months or years and you want it adjudicated, you can file a WOM. You are not required to hire a a lawyer, you can file pro se.

Please help as soon as possible. I have a friend who missed his interview in July. He didn't know he had an interview because he didn't receive his mail. He only found out today what to do. He doesn't have a lawyer. The clock has stopped and his case hasn't been forwarded to the court yet.

How can he reschedule the appointment? And also how can he reset the clock?
First, write them an email asap explaining why he missed his appointment and provide any evidence if there is one, then call them first thing in the morning on Monday and explain the situation

Because he does not have the online username and password, and the person who printed the application for him did not inform him and is not responding to him now.

He called a lawyer now and he said he can't do anything without the username and password.

How come the interview notice didn’t come to his physical address?

I have a friend who had missed their interview too because their apartment burned down and she couldn’t access her apartment when they sent the mail. So they sent her to immigration court for the interview. Though it was intense, she got approved immediately by the judge.
