Waiting Asylum decision

Hey guys
I submitted I 589 on the 01/01/2025
Biometric 22/01/2025
Interview 14/02/2025
Status shows "decision pending "

After the interview, tge officer mentioned that I should expect a decision in 2 weeks... it's over 3 weeks now, no feedback.

Is there anything I can do?
I’m in a similar situation, applied 22 Feb 2025
got biometrics done 17 March 2025
Interview 21 April
Now waiting 3 weeks after interview and decision pending

Not yet, but I think it will take at least 90 days and plus 2 weeks to get any decision, not sure. just calculating according to research. mine was Feb 11, so it would be last week of May i can expect anything, if everything goes normal. what about you, did you apply for Ead yet, for Ead they will take i think 2 to 3 months now , for my EAD case i got approved in 24 days and received card in one week with 5 years validity.
How long have you waited before applying for EAD ?

I had my interview in Chicago on 11/05/24. Still waiting.
Mine is going through the Chicago office even though I’m from Nebraska , they also say if you went to a field office the decision could take longer. Everything has been fast with my stuff just the waiting now to see what happens

Hello all
I had my interview on April 11 2025 , however I emailed LA office and they responded with this email and my case is decision is pending

According to our records your case is under extended review. As a part of a greater eligibility determination, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducts background and security checks on applicants and certain petitioners for immigration benefits. These checks are necessary to ensure national security and public safety. In some cases, the results of these checks require USCIS to perform additional inquiries or consult with other government agencies. When this is necessary, there is often some delay in resolving the checks, and it is difficult to predict when resolution will be completed. Please be assured that this case has not been overlooked. Once all checks are resolved, the application will be adjudicated, and your constituent will be notified of the decision.

Once we receive all required background and security checks back completed; if we need any additional information, or need to conduct a follow up interview, we will reach out in an efficient manner.

I did some research on this conversation and found some people who posted same response now going through adjustment of status.
I am a little bit nervous. Any advice is highly appreciated !!

Most people here wait around 4 months after their interview until a decision is mailed out to them and many of them got approved.
For you it says "case is under extended review" which literally means it is stuck in background checks just like they mentioned in their detailed response. Nothing much you can do except give them at least 120 days after interview, now if you continue to wait for a long time then you can pursue other options. A lawyer once wrote that all applicants go through same background checks whether they will be approved or referred to court. I wish you the best.

Thank you for your detailed answer !!

I had my interview late April in Arlington office, I thought it went very well, lasted about 2.5 hours. The officer didn't push me or repeat their questions when I answered. They asked me to come back for decision pickup in 3 weeks. I asked the officer if it's common for decisions to be delayed and sent by mail and they said no and seemed confident. I am not sure if they were talking in general or they meant that for my situation it's unlikely that the decision will be delayed. A couple of hours after the interview my status switched to Decision is pending and hasn't changed since then. Have you guys had anyone recently pickup a decision and they picked it up in the office without delay and it was a denial?

Anyways, I will keep you posted.
My decision pickup is today but informed delivery is showing a letter from the asylum office that was mailed out on the 5/15. I have no doubt this will be regarding decision being delayed and to expect it in the mail but I have to show up at the office anyways just in case since I haven't read the letter yet and it will be delivered after my pickup time. Disappointed about this last second delay but can't say I am surprised.

Nothing there.

If I was referred, I would be notified in person on my decision pickup day, why would they mail it out before then.

My online status is also showing "Decision is pending" since interview day.

Oddly enough, neither me nor my lawyer received any calls from them regarding the delay.

Perhaps they sent a decision in mail and you'll get one in person as well?
I think they typically notify people about delay in decision via the phone call and not through the letter.

Good luck today on the pickup. I wish you an approval.

Have you received any email like “action taken on your case”?

Hello, Anyone has luck those who got decision was mailed from decision is pending no fees waived and still got approval? My status changed yesterday to decision was mailed, I understand its most likely referral but any success story with this scenario? I do see i94 record from my past visit but travel history is not available. eoir, i dont see case registered yet. Unable to add case in my online account. Its nerve breaking for me. My timeline Interview 25th October > Decision was mailed yesterday. Applied in 2016, did mandamus and but looks like decision is not in my favor.
Did you get approved?
