Waiting Asylum decision

Good day everyone, Quick question: Would filing a mandamus lawsuit have negative effects on an asylum case that has been pending for about a year? I'd appreciate insights from the experienced individuals here. Thanks.

Hello everyone.... I am a new member here. I found this forum by chance during Google search but really you are amazing helping each other. Here is my story:
Applied for asylum on May 2019. I had my interview on Nov 15th, 2022, at San Francisco asylum office. Since then, my status was "Decision is pending" for three weeks and then changed to " Application is pending" until now. I sent multiple emails to the office, tried congressman, and senator and they replied that it is on a background check, and we can not provide you with a time frame. Does anyone have experience with such a situation? anything else rather than waiting!!

Unfortunately, there is no time frame. Except you have any solid reason to request for expedite adjudication. You can reach out to Senetor Alex Padilla’s office. His office will be more helpful in this regard.

What means another letter from SSN. What is the letter about. But anyways, letter from SS office does not have any link to asylum decision.

I’ve had my IH in NYC court in 2022 and judge said she will GRANT the case but background checks are not done.
They keep scheduling wrong hearing and etc. and every time DHS need 6 more months and judge says that she will grant.
Does anyone else waiting for judge’s decision?

I already got my EAD but no SSN coming along with it, but I heard everyone should expect to receive ssn so that’s why I think they might be checking my file again

people been waiting for 4-6 years to get interviewed and you wanna get one that soon? come on!!!!!!! you still have long away ahead so don't bother yourself waiting just live your life.

I know people got interviewed less than a year
For example, I received the interview notice in the very next day after fingerprint day.

USCIS Asylum Division is scheduling asylum interviews in the following order of priority:
  • 1st priority: Applications that were scheduled for an interview, but the interview had to be rescheduled at the applicant’s request or the needs of USCIS;
  • 2nd priority: Applications that have been pending 21 days or less since filing;
  • 3rd priority: All other pending affirmative asylum applications will be scheduled for interviews starting with newer filings and working back towards older filings.
Sorry for offtop :)

To greatly increase the chance of getting an interview early, you need to go fingerprinting as early as possible and no later than 14 days from the day the case is submitted.

Hey! what you talking about is all wrong informations please stop spreading this untrue info!!! Where are the admins here???? Who in the world ever said to go bios earlier means you will get interview sooner or later? That’s all so so so wrong info and it has nothing to do with getting interview sooner or later it’s all about luck and the offices are all packed nowadays and you can’t file writ of mandamus to get interview unless you are waiting for 4-5 years otherwise the USCIS will fight the case back in the court! Please don’t say something you have no idea what you talking about
