VISA Information for Countries

Did you travel with RTD all these 3 times during the new administration? Any problems while reentering?
Yes all my travels are with Trump administration. I have a post about it here from yesterday. I have had no issues. Because I have no GC I have to go to 2nd inspection but it’s like 5 mins literally. The first time was like 10 mins because it was my first time using RTD after asylum approval. So they asked for where I was and my current address, but now they just say have a good day. No questions asked at all. They just stamp it and I’m good. I came back Saturday and they didn’t even asked me where I was just have a good one!

I have my RTD (valid until May 2026) and no GC yet. Planning to go to London in January. Any recent experience traveling to England with RTD? No visa needed?
Im pretty sure you need a visa for the UK. Most countries in Europe you’ll need a visa. Very few accepts RTD with no visa (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany) I’ve heard conflicting stories for Italy. Always check the country’s visa website requirements

Depends on the country. Some European countries says 3 months some other says for the validity of your stay, others say 6 months or a year. Check your country’s visa website of interest passport requirements.
Thank you. May I know what should be the minimum validity for our return to US?

Hi all, we are fresh asylees with both GC and RTD pending, questions is; when we get the GC we d like to travel to Dubai as a 3rd country to meet our parents there as that's the place where we can meet our parents. As far as I know, UAE doesnt accept RTD so they ll ask for GC + Passport but my wife's home passport will expire an we will need to renew it in the US through our home country's consulate. Mine is valid and I am the principal asylee btw, wife is derivative. Has anyone renewed their hc passports after receiving asylum based GCs and travelled abroad? Some say it d cause issues, just trying to understand why it would cause issues with its technicalities?

If you seek asylum for fear of persecution in your home country, applying for a passport from the same country you are afraid of returning to is contradictory to what you stated in your asylum statement. As such, in today's climate this can easily cause you problems for citizenship.

I have been reading about these stuff for years. All I know is that be cautious. The lawyers always discourage renewing passports before being a US citizen. So not a formal info but a general tendency.

I know people who hold asylum based GC travel to their home country of persecution straight from a US Airport and brazenly with the airline that carries that countries name. They keep doing that and some of them have even got their citizenship.
My goal is not to visit my COP but a 3rd country that accepts only a passport.

Yes, but, unfortunatelly, Emirates does not accept RTDs. When I was returning to the U.S. from a trip to Europe with my RTD and GC, the only question they asked me in LAX was whether I had my home country passport to which I replied that it had expired a long time ago.

At the end of the day, you will do what is best for you and your family. I wish you all the best.
