I just came back to the US yesterday and everything was smooth. Because I don’t have GC I was sent to secondary review. All checking was like 10 mins. Had no issue whatsoever. It was my first time using RTD as well. They just asked me where I was and If I had any article to declare. The hardest part for me was checking in to come back as I don’t have GC and most people don’t understand what RTD is. They kept arguing with me that I need a visa or GC. So I almost missed my flight cause I got to the airport late. Thank God I had my i-94 and EAD and after like an hour of argument they led me board.I understand this point, I am talking about re entry to US after being abroad with RTD without green card ( still processing)

IIRC France has been difficult with RTDs. Consider changing your itinerary a bit and applying through a different Schengen country.Quick question guys I want to apply for a Schengen visa through France embassy since it’s my port of entry and exit. Urgh this is so complicated it says i-94 and visa if you don’t have a GC but as asylees we don’t need visas since we have RTDIIRC France has been difficult with RTDs. Consider changing your itinerary a bit and applying through a different Schengen country.
I should say that I heard this about 15 years ago, so things might have changed. Have you searched this thread? On Reddit, I just found some people who got a visa:Urgh this is so complicated it says i-94 and visa if you don’t have a GC but as asylees we don’t need visas since we have RTD
Don't make yourself difficult. If you need to visit France with only RTD, consider entering through Frankfurt, Amsterdam, or Belgium (which have the friendliest passport control) and then taking the train to Paris; there is no passport control within Schengen countries.Quick question guys I want to apply for a Schengen visa through France embassy since it’s my port of entry and exit. At the moment there are more and more controls, especially at German borders. That's not to say they will cause trouble if you don't have a visa, but there is the risk.Don't make yourself difficult. I got a French Schengen visa last year. The only problem was making an appointment. Otherwise, no problem. They don't require green card. RTD is enough.Quick question guys I want to apply for a Schengen visa through France embassy since it’s my port of entry and exit. They require a GC. I am RTD without GC. Hey, Did you have any issues checking in with Qatar Airways when departing the U.S, since you don't have a GC?I transited through Doha with no issues. I used Qatar airways.
When departing the US they don’t check if you can come back in, they only check if you have the required country’s documents ie passport/visas etc it’s when you come back that they checked if you can come back in. I didn’t have any issue but also had my RTD, I-94 copy and EAD. I always present all just in caseHey, Did you have any issues checking in with Qatar Airways when departing the U.S, since you don't have a GC?
