Hello,

I have a few questions about my citizenship that I was hoping someone could help me with...?

Firstly, can I go on Vacation to England while waiting on my Citizenship? My husband lives there and we have separated because it would be easier until I become a Citizen and he can come back legally.

Secondly, can I go without my greencard? I am waiting for the replacement and have the receipt number for it, is this enough to travel?

Also does anyone know the waiting time currently in Connecticut?

Thank you :D

Yes, you may travel abroad while your citizenship is in progress. As a general rule, don't stay out of the country long enough to break your continuous residence requirements. Since you are waiting for a new GC, make sure to get an I-551 stamp in your passport prior to traveling. You can get the stamp by scheduling an InfoPass appointment and bringing your renewal receipt notice and passport.

Depends on how long you're planning to spend there, and how much time you've already spent there in the recent past. How much travel have you already been doing, and how much are you planning? A week? A month? 6 months?

Ok thanks that is great news however, I was hoping it would only take a few months, not a year. I lived in Arizona for a long time during my stay here, will I be eligible to apply there too? Or does it have to be where I currently live in CT?

You already moved out of state and to a new USCIS jurisdiction so you become eligible to file after living in CT for 3 months. After you file, they send you a notice to go get fingerprinted etc... That may be in a few weeks after filing. Check your local office processing timeframe on www.uscis.gov

check the CT naturalization timeline thread. If you're lucky, the whole process will take 4-5 months (if your case is straightforward - not too many long trips, no arrests, etc.). After you get the receipt once you send in your application, a couple of weeks might pass until you get your fingerprint notice, then you go to your appointment, and then wait for an interview letter, that could take a month to receive. If you pass that, you might get an oath administered then and there (I don't know about CT), get an oath date assigned there, or will have to wait for one in the post.

Either way, when you're not in town, someone should have access to your post to let you know if you receive something from CIS about an appointment or something.
