US citizen for daughter in law

Hello Everyone

My husband is on J1 and I am on H1. My father in law is a US citizen. I have 2 questions...

Can he sponsor my husband/me for green card?

It will take at least 10 years for a visa to become available in the F3 (married son of USC) category so he'll have plenty of time to serve out the 2 years of home residency if even subject to it.

If you can get an employer to file an employment based petition for you it might take the same or less time for a greencard. If subject to the INA 212(e) 2 year HHR, he would need a waiver to switch to an H1-B and probably to an H-4 based on you (check that out for yourself).
 
Thank you all..yes he is required to waive J1 to get H1-B. So my father in law can't file for me..it would be only through my husband right..Thanks again!
