Travelling on just GC

I applied for my RP in feb but it seems i am not going to get it anytime soon.

I want to go vacation next month. Any suggestions on if it is possible and safe to travel just on GC. My NP is expired so can't use it.

Has anyone done that and what countries if any, can i travel to ? Please advice?

My advice to you is not to travel until you get your RP. Your NP has expired and GC is not a valid ID when you try to enter any country. Don't go until you receive RP.
 
Want is an expert on this issue. He was talking about the possibility of travelling with just greencard. I will defer to him if he jumps in, but as far as know it is impossible to travel with just greencard for international flights. Domestically, you will will need only state ID, but internationally you must carry some sort of travell document...........

You need a passport or RP or RTD to travel on an international flight as some members have already pointed out.

I would suggest you follow the instructions in the sticky above about sending an expedite request to get your RP.
 
You will need a travel document to board an airplane except going to Canada directly from the United States. For that, you need only your GC.
 
taking a cruise?

ifyou take a cruise you need only the green card! maybe bahamas, bermuda, st thomas!!!:cool:
 
My request to expedite was denied. Appearantly, vacation is not good enough reason for expedition.
Now, i have to look for my options. Canada could be good choice. Is it possible to travel canada by air on just GC? How about if drive over to mexico ( not sure if that is a good idea)
Anyone with experience please share ?
 
Canada and the US should both let you in with just a GC. I don't know about Mexico. You can pretty much just enter Mexico, so the US should let you back in with just your GC... am I right? You can also visit Hawaii... or maybe Guam?
