Traveling Outside the US As Asylee applicant ,Asylee,LPR through Asylum

From the information I gather from my lawyer is that, you can travel with your cop passport, BUT, it may become a problem during your citizenship test. So, it's not recommended, especially with the political climate we're going to face in the near future.
It's risky, but the decision is yours.
Is there anyone experiencing this or similar?

A relative of mine used her passport AND went to COP with it. She was a derivative asylee. They just asked her about it at her interview, and she mentioned she personally did not have a fear, especially after over a decade away, and she also went to a different city. This was sufficient.

But, in general, if you can avoid using your passport and/or going to your COP, the easier it will be. If you HAVE to do one of those things, be ready to explain why you felt you were safe doing it (even if they don't end up asking you about it - do NOT bring up the topic at your interview UNLESS THEY do).

Thank you for sharing! I hope we all get lucky on any of these.

I will apply to RP this week for my spouse (received own, I am still waiting).

But I am gathering more information on the potential issues we might face if we get a new COP from the country’s embassy. Some people said “they just asked me questions about the passport. That’s it.” As far as I understand, no major issue if you have a new passport but you might be questioned if you visited your country.

Individual circumstances play a significant role in the passport renewal process. For those who haven't faced government persecution, renewing their passport is often easier and They can provide evidence that their government doesn't have any issues with them.

This typically applies to people whose asylum applications weren't based on political reasons. In such cases, the government is more likely to issue a new passport without objections.

Thank you for your perspective. Ours is political asylum but the embassy/consulate will issue our new passport with no issues. So that’s not a big deal.

Hello everyone!

What are the current processing times for RTD? Can you share your timelines? My receipt date is early January 2024. No news yet!

without any travel document?
Yes Canada definitely, and back. Mexico around the border region, and back. Farther into Mexico, I'm not sure. I've never done that. Cruises that are closed loop, meaning you do not end the cruise outside the US, you can also do without a passport. The key here is that the US only requires the GC, so you're looking for OTHER countries that do not require a passport. Also, if you miss your ship in a foreign port, you'd be stuck without a passport there, so always pay attention to when you need to back.

Hello. Have you ever traveled with only GC, no passport, on closed loop cruise? On websites of cruise companies noticed they will check travel documents like passport for GC holders on embarking
