Hello

My name is Dima

I noticed that you answer many questions on this group related to the green card and the difficulties that can arise in different cases.

I already received the green card, but I returned to my native country because I have to graduate from the university this summer. could you help me with a template or special procedure to write an explanatory letter for USCIS, so that when I return to the US the green card won’t be taken by border officers.

Thank you !

1. When did you depart from the US after getting your GC?
2. When will you be graduating from your school (month/year)?

1. I got in US on 5th of may, and I received GC in two weeks. After that I left US in three weeks, on 14th of June.
2. I’m planing to be back in US on 4th of October

I calculated that in this way at the end of the year I’ll have less months outside US.

You’ll be gone for less than 6 months per the above response, you’ll be fine. You do not need to do anything.

I’ve heard that clear communication is important, similar to how issues are resolved with https://hotwire.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html, where providing a detailed and honest explanation helps prevent misunderstandings.

Thank you !
Yes, you can travel back to your homeland with the "I-551" stamp in your passport, as it serves as temporary proof of permanent residency. However, be mindful of the duration of your stay abroad—if you're away for more than six months, it may raise questions about your intent to maintain U.S. residence.
