Stuck in Name Check??? Let's track it

confusion.......

Today I called to followup on the status of my application and got to know name check is still pending, for past 2 months they told everything is cleared on our applications and its with adjudication. now what to do to find out exactly whats going on.....

please give some advice

I wonder if address change triggers another 'FBI Name check', similar events happen to me as well, in Januray I was told that FBI name check is done but now I am being told that it is still pending (I reported address change in 1st week of Jan).
 
Citizen of Pakistan - Namecheck experience

I have been waiting since May 2003 in the namecheck process. If you name is a common muslim name then the wait will be very long because the FBI analysts have to go through each and every hit and the painstaking process of elimination... So it will be a while. If however, your name is not so popular (unlikely as you are from pakistan) then it will be faster. Plus, with most muslim names NNCP performs checks on various spelling combinations of the name, i.e. Muhammad, Mohamad, Mohammad, etc.etc. :confused:
 
Not True!

I am sorry, but your theory is totally wrong. My friends with the last names you stated are approved faster, at least the ones I know. My Indian, Russian and Chinese friends are not approved yet, and it has been more than three or four years. Others from Pakistan are having hard time too, but it is just luck becasue of the several files the FBI receive at a single day. There is no way to predict why there is a delay.
 
NC delays

Most people who came to US just graduated from schools have no problem; if you had job(s) before coming here, you are stuck. It seems delay is caused by overseas US embassies.

Guys, let's focus on how to handle name check instead of why we are name checked. Dont generally make some comments that are totally wrong - I am graduating from a school in USA and tons of friends of mine who have graduated from schools in USA are stuck in name check.

Namecheck

Hi everyone,

How can someone definitively find out that the case is pending because of a namecheck? I suspect I am under namecheck delay. The reason I suspect that is because when I once inquired about my EAD, the TSC response has been "your case is under additional review, which causes longer processing time on your case". I have already received AP approval though after a senator inquiry.

I have an Arabic name, but not a common name. However, I have traveled quite a bit over the last few years for business purposes.

Here are my details:

TSC, EB2, Worldwide
i-140, i-485s, APs, EADs (RD January 26, 2006)

AP - spouse (AD 5/9/06)
EAD - spouse (AD 5/9/06)
AP - myself (AD 7/6/06 after senator inquiry)
EAD - myself (pending - LUDs ending 3/29/06)
i-140 (pending - LUDs ending 3/29/06)
i-485 - spouse (pending - LUDs ending 3/29/06)
i-485 - myself (pending - LUDs ending 3/29/06)

140 lud and name check - is there a connection

Hi,
The I485s of mine, and family members are pending even though the pd became current in April 2006 for want of name check clearance for me and my wife(My daughters name check cleared). I have two approved I140s(EB2 and EB1). My wife has one I140 pending(EB1 OR). I Have been following up with senator, fbi........ for name check clearance. On 07-08-2006, I saw a change in lud for both of our I140s(EB1) with no message change. Is there a connection to name check clearance?

just came back from INFOPASS. I feel so sad as I was told my name check was still pending. My 485 RD is 2005/1.

your dates are very similar - except I got I-140 and EAD as well. How did you contact the senator? I am thinking about doing that soon for my I-485. Is there any guideline as to how long one should wait to engage the senator/congressman?
