Stuck in Name Check??? Let's track it

I think FBI Fingerprint Check will be automatic on your FP date and the results will be sent 24-48 hours where as FBI Name Checks (which is where we are all stuck) is independent of FP and USCIS will initiate at theri will.
 
Additional Name Checks Load for FBI.

Guys,

I heard on NPR yesterday evening,DHS has decided to conduct Security Checks through FBI for over 400,000 Port and Dock Employees in the US of A.
President BUSH wants the initial Phase of Name Checks to be done before Summer is over.If the move proceeds as per the plan(I see no reason not to, considering the sensitive nature for which it is being carried out)its going to be even more pain for people who have been waiting to get their Name Check done.

The article gives the reason why it is not FBI who does the initial name check - because FBI has already been heavily loaded.

The strange thing here is that it says TSA and not FBI will be doing the backgound check, where as i am sure i heard on the NPR report that it will be the the FBI that will do the initial Name Check.

It was discussed couple of times already: NC is initiated shortly after SUBMITTION of i485 application (1-2 weeks).
Before you ask :) - I learned that on infopass appointment.

Sorry to throw the spanner.. Does it really matter when NC is initiated? There has been lot of discussion on whether it is after FP/ I485 submission. If you are stuck, you are stuck.
I have posted a request as to what we can do to get the attention of the USCIS/FBI. I appreciate your feed back on this

It does matter. If the NC is initiated (as someone said, I heard, I was told, I leaned etc) just after the submission of your I-485, it means your NC has been pending for a longer time. If it is after the FP, the NC is just pending for a short time. This is because your FP is usually requested at least 3 months after the submission of your I-485. There is no reliable info so far that the NC is initiated just after the submission of your I-485.

How reliable is when immigration officer reads the date the namecheck was started from his computer screen? Quite relible i'd say.
And since i know the ND/RD i can tell for sure that in MY case (others might be different) NC was initiated 7 calendar days after RD. But it doesn't really matter to know how long it has been. Cleared or not - that's what important
 
Well in my case, the congressman told me that the NC was initiated on 9/29/05 after my interview. My I-485 RD is 02/24/04. So go figure! Compass said earlier in this post that he had a second name check initiated after the interview. So it may be that.. Who knows.. pretty frustrating...right?

yeah... all this uncertainity freaks me out...
 
Hi, I'm waiting for my name check too. If you really want to see something about this chart, here's what I think:
Currently (04/27/2006), based on this table, for the people who appeared in this forum (Also who's frustuated) has their name check stuck in FBI/USCSI:

About 25% cases initiated in 2002 haven't been cleared.
73% cases initiated in 2003 haven't been cleared.
91% cases initiated in 2004 haven't been cleared.
and 80% cases initiated in 2005 haven't been cleared. (including me)

You can double check it in case I counted wrong.
Also, I saw from uscis.gov, in a file about name check posted on April 25, 2006. They said they will stop giving any benifits (EAD and AP?) to us name check victims? I'm getting depressed now. Anyways good luck everyone!

AP requiring name check?

Can you please point to the file/link where it says name check victims won't get AP/EAD benefits?
I am waiting for over a month now for AP approval and was wondering if name check is also delaying AP being approved. Filed 485 in Nov 2005 and stuck in name check.

I doubt that the document you are referring to.. says that..?!??!
but anything could happen..who knows...
 
Yea, that's what I thought too because I have gotten 2 EADs during the 'pending suspended state of uncertainty'...whatever that means....reminds me of the opening lines of the poem 'Rabbi Ben Ezra' by Robert Browning, as we all wait and grow old..

Many people from the list got approved, and info was not updated. Some did update but later others used older versions of the table to continue.
I mentioned few times, that 'gegemon' and 'LCSilense' are approved a while ago and table does not show it for some reason. 'Steveva' left to home country and informed about this. Many others just did not come back to update (maybe left also).
From the people around me, I only know 'belle' showed up recently.
So it is possible that all 2002 and most of 2003 folks are approved!
